Georgia-Pacific is seeking an innovative and results-driven Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team at the Prosperity, South Carolina plywood manufacturing facility. This role is critical to advancing reliability, asset performance, and continuous improvement within a safety-focused, batch manufacturing environment aligned with our Principle-Based Management (PBM) philosophy.

The Maintenance Manager will provide strategic leadership to optimize safety, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and cost performance. The successful candidate will drive reliability-centered maintenance practices, strengthen equipment health, improve planning and execution, and lead the maintenance team in delivering operational excellence.


What You Will Do

  • Lead as a safety steward and culture champion: prioritize employee health and safety in all processes and decisions while driving a positive, reliability-focused culture that maximizes engagement, ownership of equipment condition, and alignment with our organizational philosophy to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and lead a diverse hourly workforce: motivate and grow team members through continuous-improvement practices and collaborative leadership, leveraging varied backgrounds and expertise to increase engagement, accountability, and operational performance.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of equipment used in manufacturing and ensure disciplined execution of preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance to improve reliability.
  • Manage workforce schedules to promote efficiency, improve maintenance effectiveness, and maximize the reliability value of all maintenance hours.
  • Participate in daily planning and scheduling meetings to support work order prioritization and proactively identify, plan, and execute reliability-improving work.
  • Own and optimize the site's maintenance strategy, including preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Lead root cause analysis and failure elimination efforts to address chronic losses and improve asset performance.
  • Ensure discipline in CMMS utilization, including work order quality, backlog management, and PM compliance.
  • Partner with operations leadership to improve equipment uptime, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead planning and execution of major maintenance outages, rebuilds, and reliability-driven capital improvements.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn production and maintenance reporting applications.
  • Proven track record in predictive, preventive, and precision maintenance improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Ability to drive a reliability culture and ensure all assets remain in a precision state and support long-term operational performance.
  • Strong analytical skills, root cause problem-solving capability, and troubleshooting expertise, including hydraulic systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills that build teamwork and drive results.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associate's degree in engineering, industrial management, or a related field; applicable military experience is also considered.
  • Certification as a Maintenance Reliability Professional.
  • Experience in manufacturing wood products or similar industrial environments.
  • Experience in manufacturing methods, continuous improvement processes, and reliability-focused maintenance systems.
