Job Description
SUMMARY
Operates and maintains the Resin System to ensure that the resin raw material used in the production of PET containers meets plant specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operates resin system using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface. Receives and unloads trucks and railroad cars into the Resin Handling System. Assigns and logs blender recipes and maintains blenders. Grinds defective PET containers, maintains grinders, and certifies re-grind product for use. Scans and consumes production tickets using computer interface. Conducts quality inspections using specific written and visual guidelines. Ensures all vacuum and pressure pumps are operating properly. Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on resin system to include all filters. Ensures all tasks are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Packaging safety requirements Communicates system problems and breakdowns to maintenance personnel and supervisor in a timely manner. Performs housekeeping duties in silos, rail sites, truck bays, and all other areas of the resin systems. Accurately completes all logs, data input and written, to include quality checks and downtime. Effectively communicates with all internal departments. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATIONHigh School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSA valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for 12 hours and is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs. Regularly uses hands to handle and feel product. The employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant. The employee must also frequently lift and/or move 30 pounds. Ability to differentiate colors and good peripheral vision. Ability to work extended shift and abnormal hours. WORK ENVIRONMENTJob is performed in dusty environment (PET dust) near moving mechanical parts and frequently in high, precarious places. Safety glasses are required to be worn. The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant. AUTHORIZATIONAbility to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee's health and/or safety. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained. Ability to shut down any if it is down three times in one hour for the same mechanical problem. Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment.
