About the Unit

Our Labor and Delivery Unit within Butterworth Hospital, it is a fast paced procedural unit, similar to a surgical environment. We have 28 Beds, 11 Triage (5 Prep & Recovery Bays, 3 ORs) and we average 8,000 births per year.

Scope of work

In the Labor and Delivery Unit Nurse Techs help turn over and sanitize the OR rooms with the RNs, help with stocking, help with mom recoveries, help bed bathing and cleaning up babies, and get vitals and collect other data to be charted, help position/ambulate patients, transport patients within the hospital before/after delivery, and they help cover the Unit Secretary desk during lunches or sick days.

The Nurse Tech acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.

As a nurse tech, you will provide patient care which can include taking vital signs, transportation, collaborating with the RN, blood sugar checks, ADLs and can also include covering a shift 1 to 1 with a patient in this unit or be floated to other units to act as a 1 to 1 safety sitter for patients as well.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

  • 1- 2 years of direct patient care experience is strongly preferred

  • Flexibility with weekday availability is preferred
