Mission

At Biologics by McKesson, our mission is to simplify access to medication and deliver personalized care that helps patients achieve the best possible outcomes-one patient, one partner, one therapy at a time.

Location Requirement: Must be located near Cary, NC.

Purpose

The Client Relationship group (Strategic Account Management) plays a critical role within the Biologics team, focusing on large-scale client relationships that span nearly all Biologics business units. This team serves as the primary point of contact and the "face of Biologics" to biopharma partners, helping mitigate service risks and improve outcomes through proactive account oversight.

The Specialist, Client Management is responsible for ensuring clear client communication, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the broader Client Relationship team. This role requires a naturally inquisitive mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo to enhance processes and program performance.

This highly visible position provides the opportunity to lead strategically critical programs that span multiple business lines while ensuring service excellence in alignment with client agreements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Monitor program profitability monthly and provide analysis when performance falls below established thresholds

  • Understand contractual obligations and support negotiation of incremental agreements post go-live

  • Coordinate internal efforts to size new client initiatives and deliver pricing proposals

  • Ensure accuracy of all client invoices prior to release, including review of line items and supporting documentation

  • Partner with Finance to ensure timely invoice delivery and escalate any discrepancies as needed

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned pharmaceutical clients

  • Manage client expectations regarding service delivery and program execution

  • Provide proactive, consultative recommendations focused on process improvement, revenue growth, and cost savings

  • Own all non-sales and non-IT client communications (written and verbal)

  • Prepare and deliver Quarterly Business Reviews highlighting performance, insights, and growth opportunities

Account / Project Management

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across teams including Quality, Pharmacy Services, Marketing, Sales, Legal, HR, Finance, and Business Intelligence

  • Monitor performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and develop corrective action plans when needed

  • Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day program issues, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as appropriate

  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of client reports, validating data before release

  • Analyze and interpret data to provide meaningful insights to clients

  • Manage project timelines, cross-functional coordination, and communication

  • Maintain project plans, tracking logs, and oversee change request processes

  • Align client priorities with internal teams and ensure execution accordingly

Workforce & Administrative

  • Monitor team progress on client projects and initiatives

  • Provide regular status updates to senior leadership

  • Foster strong team collaboration across internal stakeholders

  • Support conflict resolution to ensure successful project execution and team alignment

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHS) preferred

Critical Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, account/client management, finance, distribution, or consulting

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and Project

  • CRM experience (CareTend preferred)

  • Strong collaboration skills with a customer-focused mindset

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects within budget and timelines

  • Advanced project management and organizational skills

Additional Skills

  • 2+ years of account management experience preferred

  • Strong experience with process documentation and improvement

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and recommend solutions

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships and align teams toward shared goals

  • Strong time management and organizational abilities

Physical Requirements

  • Traditional office requirements. A large percentage of time performing computer-based work is required.

  • Hybrid role our of Cary, NC office.

  • 5% travel for client visits.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$72,000 - $120,000
