At CESO, a Staff Surveyor will work as part of a team, performing fundamental surveying tasks based on project requirements and gaining technical knowledge through research and active participation in projects. This position provides practical and professional work experience, supporting various tasks under the direction of senior team members. The Staff Surveyor will utilize surveying software and tools to prepare survey drawings, legal descriptions, plats, exhibits, calculations, research etc. under the direction of a Professional Surveyor. This position is expected to function primarily in an office-based technical capacity, with targeted field involvement as needed to support data validation, boundary resolution, and construction support. Typical time allocation is approximately 65-80% office and 20-35% field, depending on project needs.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support other Survey staff, both office and field, in daily planning, coordination, and completion of projects including drawings, legal descriptions, calculations, research etc.
  • Perform survey tasks on a variety of projects by completing exhibit drafting, survey calculations, legal descriptions, and other deliverables.
  • Gain experience and knowledge in all facets of surveying in both field and office settings, in the preparation of boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking.
  • Perform revisions to drawings marked up by senior team members.
  • Active participation in internal team and project meetings; providing clear and concise verbal and/or written communication.
  • Prepare all drawings in compliance with company drawing and CAD standards.
  • Maintain and support the CAD process by reporting on software, hardware, and printing needs as they arise.
  • Assist in maintaining project budgets and deadlines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of software tools and best practices through continuous learning.
  • As needed, assist with fieldwork associated with boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Associate's degree or certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology or related field, with a minimum of 4 years related experience and/or training; Or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), with a minimum of 6 years of related experience and/or training is required.
  • NSPS CST Level 2 is preferred.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Basic knowledge of TBC and Access.

determined by several factors, including location, experience, education, skills, and internal equity. Our pay
structures are benchmarked against industry and market data to stay competitive. Each offer is based on a full review
of a candidate's background, qualifications, and fit for the role.

Below are the typical new hire pay ranges for this position based on location:

* Columbus, OH: $64,386 - $76,468

* Dayton, OH: $64,386 - $76,468
