PROJECT COORDINATOR
CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION
CDA/Compliance Section
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Annual Salary: B14, $75,336.00/year

This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager of Compliance, the Project Coordinator of Compliance will manage all aspects of the CDA's O'Hare and Midway Small Business Resource Centers (SBRCs).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage and operate O'Hare Small Business Resource Center and Midway Small Business Resource Center, including all administrative functions and matters related to office locations.
  • Schedule and conduct virtual and in-person meetings with prospective vendors to help them navigate airport business opportunities.
  • Develop and host educational programming on the airport business environment and processes, including tours, webinars, discussion forums, and networking sessions.
  • Develop presentations, written guides, and other educational resources to help vendors do business with the CDA.
  • Market SBRC services and programming.
  • Track and report activities and outcomes of SBRCs.
  • Collaborate with City of Chicago Assist Agencies, industry organizations, government entities, and other stakeholders to support small business development and cultivate a robust and diverse vendor pipeline for airport contracting opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of airport vendor community.
  • Conduct research related to federal and local small business programs and resources.
  • Exhibit and otherwise represent the CDA at business outreach events.
  • Support CDA Workforce and Concessions Divisions on outreach activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Additional duties may be required for this position.

    Location: O'Hare International Airport, 10510 W. Zemke Rd. Chicago, IL 60666. Routine travel to Midway International Airport and offsite locations required.
    Days: Monday-Friday
    Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, PLUS three (3) years of work experience performing or supporting project or program administration functions
    Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable:
  • Seven (7) years of work experience performing or supporting project or program administration functions
    Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree, PLUS five (5) years of work experience performing or supporting project or program administration functions
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher, PLUS two (2) years of work experience performing or supporting project or program administration functions

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) or more years of work experience in community outreach, small business assistance, or related areas
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally and helpfully with diverse audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently manage projects and relationships, solve problems, and prioritize competing demands.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Forms, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred.
    The candidate selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA)
