Description

SUMMARY
Set-up, check, adjust, and operate production machines where tooling, set-up detail, and operating procedures are standardized and obvious. Generally, close-tolerance work where dimensional and finish requirements are not difficult to maintain. Work is usually repetitive and subject to in-process inspection. Requires a fundamental knowledge of machine shop operations as acquired by short-duration job training and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Selects and aligns tooling in machines according to specifications.
* Positions work pieces again fixtures or stops in machine.
* Starts machine and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
* Regulates air and oil pressure, as needed.
* Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors.
* Cleans and lubricates machines.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Educations and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience.
Language Skills -- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups.
Mathematical Skills -- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand and convert to metric. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning - Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other - Ability to read blueprints and familiarity with inspection equipment, such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, air gauges, dial indicators, edge finders, etc. is preferred, but not required. Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time. Knowledge of computers. Skilled in the use of hand tools.
