Position Overview


Primary Purpose of the Position
Teaching online graduate rehabilitation counseling courses; responsible for teaching, grading, and mentoring students; assignments will be online; courses may range across the breadth of courses in elective areas: deaf and hard of hearing, rural rehabilitation, vocational assessment, and required courses in medical and psychosocial aspects, vocational assessment, rehabilitation research, foundations of rehabilitation counseling, and job placement, practicum and internship courses.

Applicants teaching in on-campus rehabilitation studies deaf (American Sign Language - ASL courses I-IV, deaf culture, and aural rehabilitation) minor program and teaching addictions minor program with courses ( ATOD treatment and ATOD diverse population) will be responsible for teaching, grading, and mentoring students' performance. Courses will range across our deaf minor consisting of ASL 1, ASL 2, ASL 3, ASL 4, and deaf culture.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Faculty in the the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling instruct and guide graduate and undergraduate level students who are seeking the Masters of Science in rehabilitation counseling or bachelor of science in human services and rehabilitation studies

Minimum of a Master's Degree in rehabilitation counseling or related degree

Undergraduate program deaf minor
Minimum of a Master's Degree in American Sign Language ( ASL), Interpreter Education (IE), or related field with 18 semester hours in ASL or IE; Valid ASLTA Certification or Advanced-Superior Level on the SLPI (or similar ASL proficiency assessment). (undergraduate deaf studies minor) Or a combination of education and experience
Normal Work Schedule
Undergraduate courses are during the day and evening on campus may be assigned as needed.

Graduate courses are evening online classes may be assigned as needed

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Preference is for candidates with at least 3 years of full-time teaching experience with diverse student learners, including 1st-year college students, and specifically undergraduates.

Preferred Qualifications to teach in deaf minor: The above-listed qualifications, and Teaching experience as an ASL Instructor, valid ASLTA certification, and Advanced or Superior Level on the SLPI (or similar ASL proficiency assessment. (undergraduate deaf studies minor)

Teaching online graduate-level rehabilitation counseling courses; responsible for teaching, grading and mentoring students; assignments will be online; courses may range across the breath of courses elective areas; public vocational rehabilitation, deaf and hard of hearing, rural rehabilitation, vocational assessment and/ or required courses in counseling techniques, human growth, theories, vocational assessment, rehabilitation research, foundations of rehabilitation counseling career, and job placement, practicum and internship courses. Timely submission of semester grades required, and meeting with chair and other rehabilitation counseling faculty as needed.
