DOH is seeking a Student Intern who wants to acquire knowledge and valuable work experience in the public sector/city government operations while assisting with various duties and/or projects in the Bureau of Policy, Research, and Community Engagement, and other DOH bureaus. The Bureau of Policy, Research, and Community Engagement head the racial justice work for DOH; organizes and participates in engagement and outreach events; coordinates and manages eight community programs; and aligns department-wide priorities with the Mayor's Office, City Agencies and Sister Agencies. As an intern, you will gain valuable insight into how government agencies develop policies, engage the public for feedback, and implement initiatives through racial equity and climate resilience lens. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, passionate about public service, and eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced professional environment.

Under the direction and supervision of staff, the intern will perform a variety of administrative, clerical, and research related duties. Responsibilities may include supporting policy research and development, assisting with racial equity and urban planning initiatives, providing organizational and logistical support, and completing additional assignments as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Perform various administrative functions to support program activities.

* Manage stakeholder lists and relationships with community partners

* Support housing outreach and logistics of racial equity policy planning.

* Synthesize data, research policy, and draft policy documents.

* Operate various software to author documents, create spreadsheets and capture data.

* Perform various office clerical functions.

* Participate in the design, set-up and administration of special events and program activities.

Location:121 N Lasalle Street 10th Floor

Hours: varies (Up to 21 hours)

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or law school OR a student currently enrolled in an accredited business or data processing/information technology school.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The candidate that possesses the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on their interview, will be selected.
