Inova Server Engineering is looking for a dedicated Data Center Technician 2 to join the Team. This role will be full-time working day-shift Monday - Friday located in Fairfax, VA. The Data Center Technician 2 independently performs installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center systems supporting Inova's critical IT infrastructure. This role manages moderately complex tasks related to servers, networking, cabling, and power and cooling systems, while coordinating with IT teams, vendors, and facilities to ensure system reliability, uptime, and security. Data Center Technician 2 Responsibilities:
Installs, configures, and maintains servers, network hardware, cabling, and data center infrastructure. Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, connectivity, and environmental issues with minimal supervision. Monitors system performance, environmental conditions, and facility security dashboards. Responds to system alerts and incidents to minimize service disruptions and downtime. Performs preventative maintenance on UPS, PDUs, cooling, and backup systems. Manages rack elevations, cable standards, labeling, and physical asset accuracy. Executes equipment deployments, decommissions, and relocations for projects and operations. Coordinates with network, server, and storage teams during upgrades, migrations, and incidents. Engages vendors and facilities teams for issue resolution and service activities. Ensures all work complies with organizational policies, safety standards, and regulations. Maintains accurate tickets, asset records, and maintenance documentation. Identifies recurring issues and recommends operational improvements. Provides guidance to junior technicians as needed. Participates in oncall rotations and afterhours responses. Supports continuous improvement of data center operational processes. May perform other duties as assigned.
