Overview

Responsible for coordinating and supporting the College's Microsoft Teams voice and collaboration infrastructure. This position collaborates closely with other technical staff to administer, optimize, and maintain Teams Phone, voice policies, emergency calling, collaboration devices, and meeting room systems. Responsibilities include implementation, configuration, testing, and operational support of the enterprise voice and real-time collaboration services.

This position also provides secondary support for related infrastructure components including identity, authentication, networking, and server dependencies that influence Teams Voice performance and reliability. Additional duties include planning, securing, monitoring, and enhancing the availability and user experience of the College's collaboration environment. This position is part of the Infrastructure Team's on-call rotation and is responsible for after-hours monitoring as needed.

Responsibilities

Microsoft Teams Voice and Telephony Administration

    Administer and support Microsoft Teams Phone services, including calling plans, operator connectivity, and voice routing.
  1. Configure and manage Teams voice policies, dial plans, number assignments, and call handling features.
  2. Deploy, configure, test, and maintain Teamscertified phones, headsets, conference devices, and gateways.
  3. Monitor Teams Voice service health and call quality; investigate and resolve voice and collaboration service issues.
  4. Coordinate with telecommunications providers and thirdparty vendors supporting Teams Voice services.
  5. Review service incidents and outages impacting Teams Voice and recommend corrective or preventative actions.
  6. Stay current with Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, and collaboration technologies.

Emergency Calling and Notification Systems

  1. Administer and support Teamsintegrated emergency calling and notification systems.
  2. Collaborate with Campus Security and other IT staff on system design, configuration, testing, and maintenance.
  3. Maintain emergency call routing, location data, and notification workflows.
  4. Conduct routine testing and documentation to ensure emergency communication readiness.
  5. Recommend and implement hardware, software, or configuration improvements as needed.

Teams Meetings and Collaboration Room Systems

  1. Design, deploy, and support Microsoft Teams Rooms and collaboration spaces.
  2. Install, configure, test, and maintain meeting room hardware including displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and control panels.
  3. Manage Teams Rooms licensing, resource accounts, and room configurations.
  4. Develop and maintain user and support documentation for collaboration and meeting systems.
  5. Provide troubleshooting and optimization to improve meeting quality and user experience.

Supporting Infrastructure and Systems

  1. Provide secondary support for network, security, and systems components that impact Teams Voice and collaboration services.
  2. Assist with VLAN, Quality of Service, firewall, and WAN considerations related to realtime voice and media traffic.
  3. Apply understanding of Active Directory, including users, groups, and service dependencies to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  4. Apply understanding of Windows Server environments, including authentication, DNS, and services that support collaboration platforms to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  5. Collaborate with team members and participate in infrastructure projects as assigned.

Operational Support and Documentation

  1. Maintain accurate documentation for Teams Voice architecture, configurations, and call flows.
  2. Facilitate and participate in training to support Teams technology.
  3. Share knowledge and provide training to IT staff and end users as appropriate.
  4. Coordinate change management activities related to Teams Voice and collaboration services.
  5. Maintain inventories and records for Teams phones, meeting room equipment, and related assets.
  6. Provide escalated support for Teams Voice and collaboration incidents.
  7. Evaluate and test new Microsoft Teams features, updates, and integrations prior to production deployment.
  8. Participate in training, meetings, and professional development activities as needed.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to interact with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Practical understanding of project management concepts.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience administering Teams Phone, enterprise telephony platforms, or collaboration environments.
  • Ability to support emergency notifications and emergency calling systems.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server fundamentals as they relate to enterprise collaboration services.
  • Experience using automated deployment or management tools (e.g., SCCM, LANDesk, Intune).
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server environments that support enterprise applications and collaboration services.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years supporting or administering enterprise voice or collaboration systems, preferably Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Certifications

  • Technical certifications such as A+, Network+, CCNA, MCP, or related credentials are desirable.
