Representative Duties


The District is seeking a Professional Expert - Grants to provide specialized professional expertise in support of a specific, limited-term grant or specially funded project. This assignment is intended to provide professional knowledge and technical expertise that is not otherwise available through existing classified, faculty, or student employee classifications.

This position is temporary, employed on an as-needed basis, and is not intended to replace or duplicate classified or academic work.

Scope of Assignment

Under the direction of Vice President of Academic Services, duties may include:

Providing specialized technical expertise related to grant development, coordination, or post-award support

Assisting with grant narratives, budgets, timelines, and required documentation

Supporting compliance, reporting, and monitoring requirements for funded projects

Coordinating with administrators, faculty, and staff to gather programmatic and fiscal information related to grants

Preparing summaries, reports, and supporting materials related to grant activities

Duties are limited to non-academic, professionally ancillary activities and do not include instruction, counseling, or other academic services.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated professional expertise in grants, grant writing, grant administration, or grant-funded projects

Specialized education, training, licensure, certification, and/or professional experience directly related to the assignment

Ability to apply professional judgment and technical knowledge to a limited-term project

Supplemental Information


Conditions of Employment

Temporary, at-will employment on an as-needed basis

Assignment is tied to a specific project with defined start and end dates

Employment may not exceed 38.5 weeks in a fiscal year, inclusive of all temporary service, unless an AP-authorized exception applies

Assignment is contingent upon funding and Board approval

Professional Experts are not eligible for health benefits, paid leave, or holidays

Concurrent employment as a Professional Expert is not permitted with short-term, substitute, or student employment

Adjunct faculty may be concurrently employed as a Professional Expert only with CHRO approval and within load limitations

Compensation

Compensation will be paid at the appropriate hourly rate in accordance with the District's Professional Expert Rate Schedule and only for actual hours worked.
