Product Owner II (Remote)

American Specialty Health Incorporated
remote work
United States
May 08, 2026
Description

American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH) is seeking a Product Owner II to join our Product department organization.

In this role, you'll work closely with stakeholders across the organization to shape, refine, and prioritize what the team builds and why it matters. At ASH, our mission drives how we build. We focus on improving real health outcomes at scale, lowering cost and complexity for the system, and designing experiences that treat people like people, not transactions. Our work touches the lives of more than 62 million people nationwide, about 1 in every 6 Americans.

Remote Worker Guidelines

  • Remote Worker Guidelines: This position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network. The internet connection must have a consistent 50 down/10 up Mbps minimum internet speed. 100 down/20 up is recommended to support higher quality video meetings.

Responsibilities

  • The Product Owner II will:
    • Own the product backlog end-to-end: writing, refining, and prioritizing user stories that give the team clarity and room to move fast.
    • Work with other departments and product teams to assess, initiate, refine, and drive appropriate functional solutions.
    • Gather requirements from key stakeholders and break those down into user stories for the scrum team to develop.
    • Use AI-assisted tools effectively throughout the discovery and requirements process: interrogating business needs, stress-testing assumptions, and helping the team get to sharper questions faster.
    • Work alongside an AI-first engineering team that uses AI tools as part of how they think and build. You don't need to be an engineer, but you need to be genuinely curious about how they work.
    • Engage purposefully in all Scrum ceremonies, advancing work through clear decision-making and preventing ambiguity from becoming a blocker.
    • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of refined user stories ready for development.
    • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories.
    • Write acceptance criteria that are clear enough that a developer doesn't have to guess and a tester doesn't have to interpret.
    • Plan and prioritize product backlog and development of the product.
    • Identify, manage, and prioritize cross-team priorities.
    • Contribute to final approval and acceptance testing
    • Effectively communicate the product strategy to key stakeholders and team members.
    • Play an engaged role in mitigating non-technical impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
    • Partner across different teams and departments as needed to coordinate delivery plans, testing, training, and support.
    • Partner closely with engineering, user experience, customer experience strategy, and design teams to ensure quality and consistency of experience.
    • Incorporate stakeholder input into product roadmap while effectively negotiating trade-offs of conflicting priorities based on value to the business and customer.
    • Present to internal stakeholders as the product subject matter expert with in-depth understanding of the business and product.
    • Participate in inception workshops in cross-functional group settings
    • Coordinate troubleshooting and analysis of issues from internal and external users and solutions all the way through resolution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of agile process and principles. (High proficiency)
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI tools (Copilot, Chat GPT, Claude, or similar) and genuine curiosity about how they can change the way product teams work. AI expertise is not required, but candidates should be actively learning and experimenting in this area. (High proficiency)
  • Creating, prioritizing, and accepting user stories. (High proficiency)
  • Writing clear and concise acceptance criteria.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
