This is ahybrid position based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. The Opportunity
This role manages the administration and reporting of restricted gifts and grants and supports closing the books on a monthly and fiscal year basis.Supports the accounting related transactions for restricted revenue, including monthly reconciliations and the annual audit process.
Compensation

Here at Feeding America national organization, equality is central to our mission and is an integral part of our compensation policies and structures. As such, we maintain transparent salary ranges and clearly defined practices for how our team, including new hire salary offers, moves through these ranges. You can expect us to offer the best salary up front based on these clearly defined pay practices with little room for negotiation. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions.

Salary Range: $97,000 - $102,000 Based on Experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly and annual financial close responsibilities including preparation of revenue releases and account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation, monitoring and management of key restricted revenue-related accounts including contribution receivable, in-process suspense, deferred grant revenue and accrued member grants.
  • Liaisons with external auditors for restricted revenues and associated transactions and prepares lead-schedules used in the preparation of the audited financial statements and footnotes for the interim and year-end audits.
  • Supports the restricted revenue recognition process including maintenance of fund records, review of expense allocations to donors and revenue release.
  • Supports the review and approval of all consumer-activated, donor-directed and competitive member grant distributions funding verification and follow up with the Development and member grant teams.
  • Manages departmental expense processes to track expenses and invoice payment for all of Marketing services. Reviews invoices for accuracy, prepares invoices for approval and payment, maintains expense tracking spreadsheet and facilitates monthly reconciliation of expenses among outside vendors, accounting and the Marketing team.
  • Serves as primary Marketing support for contract initiation and maintenance; coordinates new contract and vendor setup processing.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of equivalent work experience in accounting or finance.
  • Expertise in managing and analyzing high-volume datasets using advanced Excel functions to present actionable insights.
  • Non-profit background preferred and must be familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent MS Office skills and hands on experience in enterprise-wide financial systems.
  • Must be detail oriented, an independent worker with excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable about financial statements.
Preferred Competencies, Experience and Certifications:
  • Experience with BPM systems and reporting writing preferred.
