The Test Engineer will provide general technical support to the test department by executing diagnostic tests to verify equipment functionality. Under direct supervision, you will work on a team that provides subject matter expertise to build and improve test facilities involving mechanical and electrical systems, data acquisition, and processes to support the development of products and technologies across the portfolio of products. Learn and apply technical skills related to mechanical and electrical HVAC systems toward new product development engineering activities. Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting issues with test cells, instrumentation, data acquisition software, and test units. Assist in creating technical project plans for new or upgrades to existing capital test equipment, under close supervision. Work with cross-functional project teams to ensure testing expectations are clearly defined and communicated. Champion data collection process, from acquiring signals to data verification and reporting, with guidance. Provide limited technical oversight as required for specific testing activities to ensure the highest level of quality and integrity of result. Assist in implementing laboratory process improvements as related to productivity, metrics, and continuous improvement. Participate in reviewing and comprehension of external testing standards and how they apply to internal testing procedures. Contribute to developing new testing methodologies for incorporation into existing testing methods and procedures. Coordinate activities with product engineers and a team of technicians. Interpret engineering drawings and specifications under supervision. Assist in analyzing and interpreting data from test results.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Skilled at multitasking & reprioritizing tasks Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with vendors to perform work and services relating to mechanical/electrical facility systems Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teams
Preferred Qualifications:
LabVIEW certification and EPA refrigerant certification Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials Proficient with fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, and analog/digital data acquisition HVAC equipment experience/understanding Experience with PLC and PID controllers Experience working in R&D center/lab setting

Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,000-$100,500 in Virginia. The range displayedrepresentsthe pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls.
