Job Summary: The Business Analyst (BA) will serve as a key member of the PMO Department. Leveraging the BABOK (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge) framework, the BA will gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into actionable solutions, while also providing dedicated quality control and testing oversight for project deliverables. The role supports the Project Management Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Defines and clarifies business requirement documents, test scripts, user acceptance testing, risks / issues, and dependencies.
  • Partners with Project Managers, to integrate requirements into project plans.
  • Elicits, documents, and validates business, stakeholder, and system requirements.
  • Works with testing software to expand use and define system requirements.
  • Maintains a living requirements repository and traceability matrix.
  • Facilitates workshops and interviews with business owners, IT, and operations.
  • Maps current state processes and identifies improvement opportunities.
  • Designs future state workflows and recommends automation or system enhancements.
  • Conducts gap analysis between business needs and existing capabilities.
  • Evaluates proposed solutions against business objectives and risk criteria.
  • Develops acceptance criteria and test plans in collaboration with project team.
  • Supports user acceptance testing (UAT) and signoff.
  • Defines and enforces quality standards for project deliverables.
  • Reviews test cases, defect logs, and resolution metrics.
  • Conducts regression and performance testing for critical banking applications.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business units, IT, compliance, and external vendors.
  • Contributes to the development of PMO processes, templates, and toolsets.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information.
  • Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for customers and employees consistent with Southside Bank's mission, CORE Values, and Blue Book culture guide.
  • Provides enthusiastic, professional, and courteous service to Southside Bank customers and employees.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Understands and agrees to abide by the policies and procedures established at Southside Bank.
  • Responsible for complying with audit policies and procedures as they pertain to this position.
  • Performs duties in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related anti-money laundering laws, and in accordance with the Bank's Information Security Program.
  • Must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Additional Functions:

  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned or directed.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High school/GED diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of business analysis experience.
  • Banking or financial services environment experience preferred.
  • Experience in PMO or project governance preferred.

Necessary Skills:

  • Innovative thinker.
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Visio).
  • Previous analysis experience with Data Analytics, Product Management, and Workflow Automation.
  • Previous QA experience (e.g., AccelQ).
  • Familiarity with banking systems (core banking, ACH, wire, loan origination).
  • Proficiency with various meeting software and facilitation of meetings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality control, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Skilled at building consensus among business, technical, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fastmoving, regulated environment with evolving priorities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
  • Able to develop and sustain sound working relationships and credibility at all levels within the global business and with external consultants.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Activity/Dexterity:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Physical Environment Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.

Work Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm.
  • On call 24/7.
