About the Job

This position is for a part-time (32 hours/week) entry-level clinical research coordinator. Part of this position will help with the coordination of healthy volunteers trials looking at the role of tobacco products in cancer (50%), and the other part will assist with coordinating a Clinical Trial for Dr. Ondrey in the Otolaryngology Department (30%). This position will be performed primarily onsite at the Delaware 717 Building, the MHealth Clinics and Surgery Center, and the Lions Research Building on the University of Minnesota campus. Below is a breakdown of this position's major responsibilities, other duties may be assigned as needed.

Healthy Volunteer Trial Coordination: (50%)

  • Support study advertising and participant recruitment efforts
  • Assist in the screening, consenting, and enrollment of participants
  • Schedule and conduct study visits, collect biological specimens and data, process specimens for storage, maintain sample inventory, and document all procedures per protocol
  • Ensure data integrity by reviewing questionnaires and following study procedures
  • Work with study staff and project manager to update PIs on study progress

Clinical Trial Coordination: (30%)

  • Support participant recruitment efforts
  • Assist in the screening, consent, and enrollment of appropriate participants with regards to established protocols with oversight of Study Project Manager and PI
  • Coordinate participant study visits with guidance from clinical research staff and Study Project Manager
  • Schedule appropriate clinic appointments, procedures, testing, and labs per study protocol requirements
  • Prepare lab kits and study devices/ technology as delegated by Project Manager
  • Ensure appropriate billing designation for study visits by maintaining compliance in OnCore and EPIC systems
  • Manage study data with guidance from Project Manager and PI
  • Collect appropriate study data directly from participants and from electronic medical records (i.e. assess adverse events and protocol deviations, administer questionnaires, prescreen for eligibility, etc.)
  • Enter data into required platforms and address queries as needed
  • Create and maintain subject binders with appropriate study CRFs and source documents
Qualifications

Required Qualifications - must be addressed on the application

  • BA/BS or education and related work experience to equal 4 years
  • Ability to work onsite
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and planning skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiar with lab techniques such as pipetting and centrifuging
  • Solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the informed consent process
  • Experience with REDCap
  • Previous research experience within the University of Minnesota system
  • Previous experience coordinating clinical research
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva
  • Experience with social media postings and other advertising
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20 - $25/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% - 80% Appointment
