About the Role

We're looking for a Materials Designer to help shape the materials vision for performance-driven products. This role will focus on developing innovative, manufacturable material solutions that align with creative direction and product goals.

You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life-from early ideation through to production-while balancing performance, cost, and aesthetic considerations.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver materials concepts and strategies aligned to seasonal or project-based creative direction
  • Design and specify textiles, synthetics, and performance materials for product applications
  • Translate insights and trends into original, forward-thinking material solutions
  • Partner with design, development, and external teams to bring concepts from idea to production
  • Evaluate materials for performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability
  • Communicate design intent and decisions clearly to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced creative environment with a strong point of view

What We're Looking For

  • ~5-7 years of experience in materials design, product design, or a related field
  • Background in performance materials (e.g., textiles, synthetics, polymers, coatings, or composites)
  • Experience designing for physical products (footwear, apparel, automotive, consumer products, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of how materials behave in manufacturing environments
  • Ability to make and articulate clear, confident design decisions
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or similar)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with footwear or wearable product design
  • Familiarity with 3D design or visualization tools
  • Exposure to working with global manufacturing partners
  • Interest in or experience with sustainable materials

Portfolio Requirement

Candidates must provide a portfolio that demonstrates:

  • Clear project storytelling (problem, approach, outcome)
  • Examples of materials exploration and decision-making
  • Evidence of collaboration and impact on final products

Why Join

This is an opportunity to work on high-visibility, performance-driven products, collaborating with a diverse team of creatives and partners. You'll play a key role in shaping material innovation and bringing compelling product stories to life.
