Job Purpose

The Engineer is responsible for engineering review, coordination, and technical oversight of external design contractors supporting electric distribution capital and maintenance projects. This role ensures contractor-produced designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and defined scope expectations while supporting the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of work.

The Engineer performs these responsibilities while working under the guidance of Senior and Lead Engineers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide technical oversight and review of external contractor design packages for distribution system projects
  • Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, safety requirements, regulatory obligations, and constructability expectations
  • Serve as primary technical point of contact for assigned external design contractors
  • Monitor contractor technical performance, deliverable quality, and adherence to scope and schedule
  • Support resolution of technical issues arising during design and pre-construction phases
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Construction, Planning, Asset Management, and Operations
  • Participate in scope development, cost estimating validation, and schedule planning activities
  • Identify and escalate technical risks or performance concerns as appropriate
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to contractor performance and design standards
  • Participate in storm response and emergency restoration activities as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with external design firms or consulting engineers preferred
  • Strong analytical and technical review skills
  • Ability to manage multiple contractor deliverables in a structured environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver license with a safe driving record required

Salary

$109,000 - $128,000 a year
