Position Summary As the Director, Strategy and Operations, you will serve as a central leader driving strategic asset planning, operational excellence, and execution across the Vaccines Medical Affairs organization and responsible for enabling Medical to be a strategic partner to both internal stakeholders and customers across the entire therapeutic area matrix. You will be able to strategically engage in a credible and ethical manner and accountable for shaping and integrating portfolio-level strategies and tactics, enabling seamless cross-functional alignment, and ensuring disciplined execution of the lifecourse immunization medical plan. In addition, the Director, Strategy and Operations will facilitate alignment across multiple functions and key stakeholders (e.g. business unit, R&D, franchise) and serve as a conduit between Leadership and the matrix teams to enhance goal clarity, communication, and delivery. Through leadership of governance forums, planning processes, and continuous improvement initiatives, you will strengthen decision-making, elevate operational rigor, and accelerate delivery of high-impact medical strategies that position Medical as a trusted strategic partner. Partner with Portfolio Leads to drive optimal vaccines strategy planning and delivery of aligned portfolio level tactics through the prioritization of common/cross-portfolio tactics and optimization of their execution. Provide process, discipline, and structure to support the effective running of the COPE (Collaborative Optimizing Portfolio Execution) meetings for Adult and Respiratory Virus Vaccines Portfolio. Provide process, discipline, and structure to support the effective running of the COPE meetings for Pediatric, Adolescent and Pipeline Vaccines Portfolio Provide process, discipline and structure to support the effective running of the VDC (Vaccines Development Committee) meetings. Provide process, discipline, and structure to support the effective running of the Lifecourse IZ core team meetings. Drive effective processes and standards on all aspects of the US Medical Affairs asset strategic and operational planning process, in alignment where needed with Global and Commercial, that effectively leverages the Medical Planning framework. Provide strategic input into the planning and execution of medical plan tactics across all brands as needed. Support the execution and timely delivery of medical plan tactics, including coordinating complex business processes, budgeting exercises and tracking/monitoring against the plans for Lifecourse Immunization. Facilitate effective partnership, interaction and timely communication across business units and functional lines including Global Vaccines Medical and Commercial brand teams to ensure deliverables are aligned and optimized and requests from partners are appropriately directed and resolved by Medical. Assist USMAL and individual leaders in developing effective presentations and other communications to senior leadership including the preparation of business-unit level reviews and ongoing management reporting needs for both the portfolio and individual vaccines. Drive consistency, rigor, and best practices across Vaccines Medical Affairs operations. Support resource planning, capacity assessments, and prioritization across the Vaccines medical organization. Shape organizational ways of working and identify creative solutions to operational challenges and resourcing constraints. Identify and implement process improvements to simplify workflows, enhance transparency, and improve speed and quality of execution. Lead roll-out and pull-through of US Medical Affairs-wide operational initiatives or tools; lead additional strategic initiatives, process improvement changes, and other strategic projects and programs as needed. Identify areas for efficiencies and improvements in USMA tools and processes and share along with best practices with the Central Ops team Ensure adherence to established policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Bachelor's degree in business administration or science related degree. 5 + years of experience in pharmaceutical industry. Experience performing strategic level business operations focused work. Project management know-how with the ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously. Stakeholder management experience keeping them informed of project status and any risks or issues impacting timelines or deliverables. Experience operating effectively in a multicultural, matrix organization. Experience using negotiation and change management skills. Experience leading cross functional teams and subject matter experts; develop long term planning strategies and programs. Experience leading, coaching and teaching others.
Preferred Qualification If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Advanced degree in science or MBA and PMP. Deep understanding of strategy development and execution and operations management. Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical/biologicals Medical Affairs activity and/or Medical Affairs experience (4+ years). Sound knowledge of life sciences & vaccines. Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate to diverse audiences. Ability to produce concise and simple summaries of concepts and solutions. Ability to build strong business relationships across various departments within GSK. Excellent organizational, planning and business acumen skills. Prioritize tasks and business needs, meet strict and sometimes conflicting deadlines, accurately update multiple trackers. Ability to manage the workload requiring balancing multiple responsibilities and workstreams simultaneously and working across boundaries and geographies effectively. Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with willingness and ability to detect process gaps, challenge assumptions, and drive change and improvement. Capable of navigating complex internal processes. Ability to work in a team environment under high pressure situations. Excellent interpersonal and written and communication skills, especially when communicating with External Experts and vendors. Ability to make informed strategic decisions and have foresight to predict/anticipate future scenarios. A proactive, dependable self-starter who takes initiative and is results oriented and meticulously detail oriented.
Working model This role is hybrid, with a regular office presence expected and the flexibility for remote work as agreed with your line manager. Travel may be required for key meetings or events.
