The Job

The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities across SCAN's Clinical and Operations Departments, focused on clinical and healthcare categories. This role requires strategic ownership of all-encompassing category spend, developing strategies to reduce total cost of ownership, including vendor management, demand management, and governance/compliance, to achieve initial TCO reduction and ongoing year-over-year improvements, utilizing an understanding of industry trends to inform the decision-making process.

This role will partner with leadership across the enterprise to set strategy, coordinate sourcing efforts and policy, and execute initiatives. This role will also involve partnering with SCAN functional stakeholders at all levels to drive the best outcomes while delivering excellent service levels to the organization.

You Will

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Partner with global business stakeholders to develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies.

  • Lead competitive bidding, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and onboarding.

  • Prioritize high-value initiatives, optimize spend and drive innovation in value creation.

  • Oversee development and execution of strategies through the sourcing process including strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (RFXs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to monitor strategy implementation to ensure benefit realization.

  • Negotiate with dedicated providers according to specific policies to achieve the best contractual conditions while ensuring internal customer satisfaction.

  • Drive value through supplier relationship management.

  • Utilize an understanding of industry trends to inform the decision-making process.

  • Develop expertise within function by growing reputation within organization, providing professional and thought leadership, influencing policy, and ensuring delivery within own function while linking with other functions of the organization.

  • Present business solutions to leaders in functional area. Champion and secure TCO reductions for your category.

  • Working closely with Stakeholders for assigned spend categories.

  • Serve as trusted advisor to multi-functional stakeholder teams to design and implement specific strategic sourcing initiatives to meet business requirements and priorities.

  • Driving best practices.

Category Management:

  • Analyze spend data and future demand to shape category strategies.

  • Maintain market intelligence and understand supply economics and cost drivers.

  • Align internal demand with market insights to develop actionable strategies.

  • Challenge the status quo and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Cost Optimization & Savings Delivery:

  • Develop and implement cost reduction strategies aligned with business needs.

  • Drive competitive pricing and total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.

  • Track and report savings initiatives, forecast vs. actuals, and maintain a robust savings pipeline.

  • Promote consumption optimization and value engineering across categories.

Contract Management:

  • Ensure compliance with master service agreements and specific contracts.

  • Monitor contract lifecycle and proactively manage negotiation phases. Collaborate with operational teams on RFQs and contract setup.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers within assigned categories.

  • Assess and segment suppliers, ensuring high engagement and risk management.

  • Lead supplier performance reviews, development activities, and compliance monitoring.

  • Drive supplier excellence through KPIs, scorecards, and continuous improvement.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, or Finance.

  • 5-7+ years' experience in Sourcing, Vendor Management, General Procurement, Supply Chain, or equivalent consulting experience.

  • 7+ years of related experience.

  • 5 years of leadership experience with ability to influence business partners (prioritizes assignments, provides assistance, scheduled work, but does not directly supervise).

  • Experience Preferred: Category management / sourcing experience in a healthcare industry or health insurance company.

  • Preferred Certifications or Licenses: CPM, CPSM, CCM, or related certifications.

  • In-Depth understanding of the business and supplier landscape.

  • Optimizes Work Processes - designs processes that allow managing from a distance.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical skills (spend analytics, should-cost analysis, market R&I) and proven track record to resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated contracting and negotiations skills.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Advanced software skills required: MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams.
