TITLE

Collaboration/Simulation Technology Support Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

Provides advanced technical support and manages projects and tasks related to simulation and collaboration technologies used by various areas at Texas Woman's University. This position primarily supports the high-fidelity nursing simulation labs, health science classrooms, VR simulation spaces, and university-wide collaboration spaces. The role includes maintaining specialized simulation technologies, instructional AV equipment, and discipline-specific medical and allied health tools. The specialist will collaborate with faculty and staff, ensuring technology readiness for instruction and simulation. This role includes training users, coordinating maintenance, and assisting with events and classroom support across the university. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager, Campus Learning Environments.

Supervises: Student Assistants

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Provides direct support for nursing simulation labs, VR environments, collaborative learning spaces, and other medical/clinical technology used across the university.

  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots simulation equipment including mannequins, recording systems, interactive displays, and telehealth tools.

  • Supports academic courses and health simulations by ensuring all technical systems are operational and optimized.

  • Provides first-line technical support for faculty and students in simulation and collaborative environments.

  • Assists in managing inventory and lifecycle replacement of simulation and collaboration technologies.

  • Coordinates with vendors and internal teams for equipment maintenance and warranty repairs.

  • Collaborates with instructional design teams and faculty on simulation and AV system usage.

  • Conducts technology orientations and provides training to faculty, staff, and student workers.

  • Maintains documentation for procedures, room configurations, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Assists in campus events requiring AV and simulation support.

  • Serves as a backup to Learning Environments team members for classroom and collaborative support.

  • Required to work a flexible schedule including occasional nights or weekends.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Associate's degree or Vocational/Technical preferred. Additional job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

One to two years of relevant experience in enterprise-level desktop computer and/or end-user computing support and device management. Additional job-related education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:

  • Strong knowledge of simulation platforms (Laerdal, Gaumard), AV systems, and VR equipment.

  • Skill in diagnosing and resolving hardware/software/network issues related to simulation tools.

  • Basic networking knowledge to support simulation systems and collaborative platforms.

  • Ability to provide hands-on technical training and documentation for faculty/staff.

  • Knowledge of Windows/macOS operating systems and classroom management tools.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and work independently in a high-paced academic environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a service-first mindset.
