We are looking for a Benefits Analyst to play a key role in delivering a seamless, employee-centered benefits and leave experience for Avient employees and retirees. In this role, you will partner closely with the Benefits Manager, Health & Welfare Programs and HR colleagues to support plan administration, analyze benefits data, and identify opportunities to continuously improve how our programs work for our people.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys problem solving, balancing priorities, and translating data into practical, compliant solutions that make a difference for the business and in the employee experience.

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes costs, usage and market trend data for current benefit plans to ensure market competitive and cost-effective programs are in place.

  • Monitors legislative changes that impact various health and welfare benefit plans and also monitors other companies to keep abreast of competitive practices with the goal of recommending appropriate changes to the Health and Welfare Program Manager.

  • Drafts informational literature and communication materials for employees and retirees.

  • Oversees and administers Avient's Leave of Absence Program including short term and long-term disability, FMLA leaves and unpaid leaves and coordinate with HR, Payroll, Legal and the third-party disability carrier. Serves as a resource for support when team members are unavailable or out of the office.

  • Partners and communicates with outside vendors in the administration of health and welfare benefits for both active and retired employees.

  • Coordinate payment of vendor invoices and completes surveys to determine various practices and approaches for benefit programs.

  • Responds to queries from HR Managers and employees regarding health and welfare benefit programs and policies.

  • Implements Intranet updates.

  • Complies with requests for benefits related reports and presentation data.

  • Ensures HRIS system is updated with all employee status changes and processes invoices.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partners and communicates with outside vendors in the administration of health and welfare benefits for both active and retired associates.
  • Coordinate payment of vendor invoices and completes surveys to determine various practices and approaches for benefit programs.
  • Responds to queries from HR Managers regarding health and welfare benefit programs and policies, maintains the HR email box, and implements Intranet updates.
  • Complies with requests for benefits related reports and presentation data.
  • Other projects as assigned.


Scope

This position manages benefits administration and process for facilities in the United States.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration and/or HR operations, with exposure to health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and leave administration.

  • Working knowledge of applicable benefits/leave regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA) and experience applying plan documents, policies, and procedures.

  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivots, lookups) to analyze enrollment, eligibility, payroll deduction, and vendor invoice data.

  • Preferred: Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, GBA, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR) and experience supporting annual open enrollment, vendor management, and benefits communications.
