Senior Scientist - New Technology Team Lead

With over 95 years of innovation, we are focused on developing the next generation of materials and technologies. Our New Technology Team in R&D identifies and builds breakthrough ideas that will shape Sunstar's future. About the Role We are looking for a hands-on scientist ready to take the next step into leadership. In this role, you will lead from the lab while mentoring a small team. You will drive your own research projects while guiding a team of 4 scientists and technicians (5 total including you), helping turn new ideas into real technologies that support Sunstar's long-term growth. This role is ideal for someone who: * Has early industry experience (typically 3-8 years) * Enjoys solving complex technical problems * Is ready to begin leading people while staying hands-on What You'll Do * Lead hands-on research in advanced materials and new technologies * Guide and mentor a small team (4 direct reports) * Develop new ideas with long-term business impact * Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and business teams * Communicate results clearly and move projects forward * Contribute to Sunstar's global innovation efforts What We're Looking For Required: * Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in polymer science, materials science, chemistry, or related field * 3-8 years of industry or applied research experience * Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in research * Interest in mentoring and developing others * Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas Preferred: * Experience with adhesives, coatings, sealants, or polymers * Experience leading projects or mentoring others * Track record of innovation (patents, products, publications) Benefits What's in it for you?
