JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at Penn State University Park invites applications for a part-time teaching assistant to start August 2026. The successful candidates will assist Dr. Serkan Yilmaz for up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester.

Job Duties:

  • Support faculty to ensure all sections of SCM 405: Manufacturing and Operations are aligned and running smoothly
  • Be the go-to resource and support, mentor students for class homework, simulations, and final projects
  • Organize TA office hours and be available either by Zoom or in-person 3 hours per week
  • Be available in the classroom during simulation execution days, final project presentations, and exam days to support faculty and guide/coach students
  • Support faculty to organize and update CANVAS page as needed
  • Communicate with McGraw Hill for any technical issues or course support during the semester

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, especially with undergraduate students
  • Minimum maintained GPA of 3.50-4.00
  • Successful completion of SCM 405 with a minimum letter grade of A and full scores from class simulations and final projects at Penn State
  • Supply Chain and Information Systems majors are preferred
  • Manufacturing, Service Operations, and Optimization backgrounds or experience is preferred
  • Need to have continuous improvement and lean mindset, bring ideas to improve the course

Compensation:

Starting rate for this position is $16.00 per hour.
