POSITION SCOPE

The Buoy Waterborne Foreman (often acting as a Marine Foreman, Mooring Master, or Tender Foreman) is responsible for leading crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of navigation buoys, mooring systems, and other waterborne infrastructure. This role requires a combination of hands-on maritime experience and leadership, with a strong focus on safety, equipment operation, and efficient execution of marine-based construction activities. Travel is required.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Lead and manage waterborne crews, providing direction, guidance, and supervision to ensure efficient and safe operations
  • Plan and organize buoy setting, drilling, and marine construction activities according to project specifications and environmental conditions
  • Oversee installation, inspection, and maintenance of buoys, anchors, chains, and mooring systems
  • Operate marine equipment such as cranes, winches, hoists, rigging systems, and support vessels as needed to complete work activities
  • Collaborate with project managers, customers, and engineers to interpret and implement plans, ensuring alignment with project goals
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, identifying maintenance needs and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, including PPE, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), confined space, and hot work procedures
  • Maintain accurate timecards and other records of daily operations, including equipment usage, production, and project progress
  • Coordinate the delivery and allocation of materials, equipment, and personnel to optimize workflow and productivity
  • Assist in training crew members, promoting skill development and fostering a positive team environment
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and provide effective solutions in dynamic marine environments * Respond to and manage emergency situations while maintaining a safety-first mindset
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS



  • 3-5+ years of experience in marine construction, maritime operations, or a related field
  • Previous foreman or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with buoy installation, mooring systems, or marine rigging strongly preferred
  • Valid Driver's License required with clean motor vehicle record
  • TWIC Card required or ability to obtain one
  • Proficiency in operating marine equipment and rigging systems
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team * In-depth understanding of safety regulations and a track record of promoting a safe work environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within project timelines
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively with project stakeholders
