CAS is currently seeking a Lead Groundskeeper role. This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Job Summary:

At the direction of the Senior Manager, Building Operations, responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the CAS grounds, parking lots, and landscaping equipment. Responsible for coordinating all snow removal operations during the winter months. Responsible for providing grounds support for all outdoor events on campus and supporting setup and teardown.



  • Oversees and coordinates daily workflow to support the maintenance of CAS grounds, roadways, sidewalks, and parking areas.
  • Provides lead support for maintenance and preventative maintenance of grounds systems such as irrigation, the pumping station, and fountain operations.
  • Guides and participates in annual and seasonal planting plans, including assisting with the selection, purchase, and transplanting of trees, flowers, and bushes. Helps ensure beds are mulched and maintained and coordinates mowing and landscaping activities.
  • Supports and helps administer the pesticide and fertilizer program, including maintaining required application certifications.
  • Coordinates snow removal activities for parking areas and sidewalks and participates in oncall responsibilities during winter months. Provides taskspecific guidance and skill training to grounds and maintenance staff on snow removal tools, equipment, and material applications.
  • Leads routine care and upkeep of major equipment such as pickup trucks, compact tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, snowremoval equipment, and handheld tools. Performs troubleshooting and participates in preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Executes and assists with outdoor tasks associated with charitable events and businessrelated activities held on the CAS campus, including event setup and teardown.
  • Monitors inventory and equipment needs and communicates recommendations to the manager and Finance representative to support budget planning.
  • Provides lead assistance for setup and operational support during CAS meetings, corporate functions, and special events.
  • Helps maintain and promote cleanliness and organization of mechanical and storage areas.
  • Coordinates workflow and task assignments involving thirdparty supplemental contractors during summer months, ensuring alignment with daily operational needs.
  • Operates workbench tools, vehicles, and small power tools requiring fine motor skills and coordination.
  • Participates as a key member of the Life Safety Team during fire drills and building emergencies.
  • Engages in safety and technical training as assigned to maintain skills and compliance.
  • Serves as essential staff supporting daytoday organizational operations during weather, power, or buildingrelated emergencies. Capable of temporarily assisting with minor building maintenance tasks and participating in the winter oncall schedule.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule related to business needs such as event support, weather events, and/or overtime as available.



    Additional Role Requirements:



    • This position is classified as essential. Attendance is required even when CAS is closed to non-essential employees.
    • This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable labor laws.
    • Mandatory overtime may be required on a weekly or monthly basis as needed to support the demands of the business. Flexibility to work additional hours is expected.


    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    While performing the responsibilities of the position, the worker may exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects such as; office furniture, wall-partitioning, 55-gallon drums of liquids, and other containers of similar weight and bulk. The worker stands upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time; moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for moderate distances or moving from one work site to another. The duties require manual dexterity to hold, control and operate tools machinery, and/or vehicles with hands and fingers. The worker frequently reaches with hands and arms and occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions (weather and temperature) where exposure lasts for more than one hour. The worker is subject to hazards, including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, loud noises, oils and/or chemicals.

    Experience
    3 years: *3 or more years of direct landscaping and/or facilities experience. (required)
