Description

The Lead Inspector / QA Manager role provides advanced technical oversight and leads the monitoring and documentation of construction activities, ensuring full compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and permits. This role leads site inspections, prepares and reviews detailed reports, and guides collaboration among project stakeholders to resolve complex field issues. This role provides resolution of multifaceted field issues, supports contract administration through independent evaluation of change orders and payment applications, and ensures the integrity of project documentation and close-out processes. The role will leverage expertise to devise new techniques or approaches and frequently make decisions within assigned scope of responsibility, often taking on a lead or coordinating role within the team. Work is performed under minimum supervision with latitude for independent judgment.

We are seeking someone who is local to Alexandria, VA as you will be expected to be onsite daily.

Responsibilities



  • Review construction work progress daily.
  • Oversee review of all construction activities, ensuring full compliance with plans, specifications, codes, standards, and permit requirements
  • Oversee use of varied construction information management systems
  • Validate documentation process and ensure reports documenting weather, equipment, manpower, and construction activities, and daily progress photos, as well as monthly progress reports for project stakeholders are completed in an accurate timely manner
  • Evaluateand advise onchange orders, invoices, and payment applications including final payment including coordination with the Owner. Perform independent verification of pay quantities.
  • Audit and ensure accurate records are being maintained related to the base work, contingency and field changes
  • Provide technical expertise in commissioning, testing, and start-up of process systems/equipment or facilities ensuring operational readiness and compliance.
  • Lead records documentation process to ensure records documents and all project, permit, and contract close-out documentation are accurate.
  • Review and provide recommendations on design and bidding documents to enhance constructability, reduce risk, and improve project delivery outcomes.
  • Proactively lead in project risks assessments, developing and executing mitigation strategies and influencing decision-making to support positive project delivery outcomes.
  • Lead auditing of complex records related to base work, contingency usage, and field changes, ensuring traceability and compliance with project controls.
  • Collaborate and facilitate resolution of complex issues in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies, and the effected public.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.


Mentorship



  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.


Skills and Competencies



  • Advanced knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, local and national building codes, and quality standards
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, specifications, and contractual documents
  • Advanced verbal/written communication and organizational skills working with multidisciplinary teams, including clients and fellow staff members.
  • Expertise in knowledge and understanding of safety requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in the implementation of the daily execution of key functions while coordinating with engineering, field management and building trade staff.
  • Ability to walk around a construction site of varying size and topography to perform inspections and ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting critical construction activities


Experience



  • Typically, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in construction inspection or related field is required.
  • Previous construction experience


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Prior Wastewater Treatment Plant Experience
  • Experience with Process mechanical and process piping


Education



  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location C: $114,000 - $155,000
