Provide health promotion, policy and systems change, and disease prevention programs and activities for the citizens of Eastern Jackson County. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in public health, health promotion/education, or other closely related field. American Heart Association CPR certificate or the ability to acquire one within 6 months of hire. One or two years progressively responsible related experience. Knowledge of the core functions and essential services of public health. Knowledge of education program planning, implementation and evaluation. Knowledge of course design, teaching methods and techniques for presenting material. Knowledge of health promotion and education theories and practices related to: public health, epidemiology, disease prevention, behavioral change, group process, community organizing and mobilizing, social justice, and adult/child learning. Knowledge of data analysis and research methods. Knowledge of social marketing principles, public information and mass media, and methods of instruction. Interpersonal communications, group process and facilitation skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks. Demonstrates ability to present information to large audiences. Knowledge of community organizing skills. Demonstrates computer use ability in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Demonstrates ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on assignments with a minimal amount of direction. If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in public health, health promotion/education, or other closely related field. Certified Health Education Specialist Knowledge of principles, techniques and application of behavioral epidemiology as related to health education and promotion. Ability to research, compile and summarize a variety of informational and statistical data and materials. Skilled in methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis and report presentation. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional periodicals and journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
