Career Description
We are looking for a detailed oriented Corporate Payroll Manager to join our team in Point of Rocks, MD.
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing the organization's payroll operations across multiple states while serving as the primary administrator for the organization's HRIS. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and optimizes HR technology to support payroll, benefits, timekeeping, compliance and workforce data reporting.
This position follows a hybrid work model, with the expectation to be onsite at our Point of Rocks, MD location up to three (3) days per week, or as determined by your manager based on team and business needs. The remaining days may be worked remotely.
Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our Point of Rocks, MD location. Flexibility in the hybrid schedule may vary depending on departmental needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing for multi-state operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations.
- Oversee payroll tax filings, registrations, reconciliations, and year-end processing.
- Manage multi-state tax accounts and jurisdictional registrations.
- Oversee garnishments, child support orders, and other court-ordered deductions.
- Conduct payroll audits and reconciliations; resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Seve as subject matter expert for payroll compliance and internal/external audits.
- Serve as primary HRIS system administrator.
- Manage system configuration, security roles, workflows, business processes, and integrations (payroll, benefits, timekeeping, ATS).
- Lead system upgrades, testing, implementations, and enhancements.
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy and seamless system integration.
- Maintain data integrity through regular audits and validation processes.
- Train managers and HR team on system functionality and reporting tools.
- Identify and implement automation and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Maintains a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with customers, co-workers, clients, and supervisors.
- Manages direct reports through coaching and supporting their training, development, and productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. The range may vary by location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Career Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 3 years processing payroll across multiple states.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-state payroll tax compliance and wage and hour laws.
- Experience managing full-cycle payroll for mid-large size workforce.
- Minimum of 3 years of HRIS system administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and HR technology platforms, preferably ADP.
- Experience handling garnishments and multi-jurisdictional tax registrations.
- Experience in manufacturing preferred.
- Experience with system implementation or payroll conversions.
- Supervisory experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and systems-thinking abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent communication with others to exchange information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- General office environment.
- May require occasional exposure to production area with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering manufacturing plant.
