Job Description

The Electronics, Optics and Systems Division (EOSD) is searching for a Student Assistant to support GTRI's Deputy Director for Research for Summer 2026. As a Student Assistant supporting GTRI's Deputy Director for Research in Atlanta, GA, your roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Data Repository Development & Management



  • Design and build a centralized repository for trip reports, meeting minutes, activity reports, and source data
  • Develop standardized file naming conventions, folder structures, and metadata tagging systems
  • Ensure data integrity, version control, and backup procedures are maintained
  • Monitor repository performance and recommend improvements to data architecture


Data Integration & Automation



  • Support automated ingestion of documents from multiple sources into the repository
  • Create scripts and workflows to extract, process, and categorize incoming documents
  • Build and maintain automated reporting templates and dashboards
  • Test and troubleshoot automation systems to ensure accuracy and reliability


Automated Report Generation



  • Design templates for recurring reports that pull data automatically from the repository
  • Generate periodic summaries of activities, engagements, stakeholder interactions, and key metrics
  • Create visualizations (charts, graphs, timelines) to enhance report clarity and impact
  • Ensure automated reports are generated on schedule and distributed to appropriate audiences


Stakeholder Engagement Planning & Tracking



  • Maintain stakeholder database with contact information, interaction history, and engagement preferences
  • Track all engagement activities, meeting schedules, and communication touchpoints
  • Develop stakeholder engagement calendars and outreach schedules to ensure consistent contact
  • Identify upcoming engagement opportunities and flag relationships requiring attention
  • Monitor engagement metrics and recommend strategies to strengthen stakeholder relationships


Briefing Materials & Talking Points Preparation



  • Extract relevant information from repository to prepare customized briefing documents for upcoming meetings
  • Generate talking points highlighting previous interactions, key issues, opportunities, and action items
  • Compile background research on stakeholder organizations, priorities, and recent developments
  • Create quick-reference materials and pre-meeting briefs for leadership with latest context and data
  • Update materials in real-time as new information becomes available


Communication & Documentation



  • Draft timely communications to stakeholders including emails, updates, and follow-ups
  • Ensure consistent, regular touchpoints with key customers and partners through communication calendars
  • Document meeting outcomes, decisions, and action items in the repository immediately after engagements
  • Support distribution of newsletters or stakeholder updates
  • Track communication effectiveness and response rates to optimize outreach


System Maintenance & Analysis



  • Perform regular audits of repository content for accuracy, completeness, and currency
  • Update documentation on data architecture, automated workflows, and standard processes
  • Train team members on repository usage and automated reporting tools
  • Analyze engagement patterns to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities
  • Generate insights and executive summaries to inform strategic decision-making
  • Other duties as assigned to support data architecture and stakeholder engagement initiatives

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant



  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science or Related Fields
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • 3.0 or higher GPA

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.


Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
