Description
Under the general direction of the assigned program manager, this Early Head Start Program Family Services Coordinator is assigned to a service area in the Head Start Program. This position interprets and applies program policies, procedures, and regulations. Uses skills to coordinate and perform a full range of duties including, reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting the child records, keeping parents informed of their child's status and needed follow-up. Provides staff support and professional development training. Assessments will include clearly articulated goals informed by the program's goals, and a process for achieving the identified goals. This is a limited position that may convert to career. Annual Salary Range: $56,200 - $106,200
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in child development, Early Childhood
Education, Human Development, Family Consumer Science, Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work, or related field, or equivalent working experience - 2 years of experience in a public or private organization,
or community development agency providing direct delivery of services to clients. - 2 years' experience working directly with 0-5 children in a
teaching position, families, and staff in an early care and education setting. - Required to hold valid California driver's license, have a
driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures - CPR, Basic First Aid Certificate (or must obtain within 6 months)
- Family Developmental Credential (or must obtain within 18 months)
- Understanding and use of the principles and practices of
the ECE field, including reflective practice, dual language learning, and Practice-Based Coaching - Per funding agency requirements, all Early Head Start staff
must complete background checks prior to hire and at least every five years that includes, sex offender registry check, State or FBI criminal history check, including fingerprint check, child abuse registry check - Must meet state health requirements that include passing a
physical examination as condition of employment, providing verification of COVID-19 vaccine, TB Clearance, and up to date with immunization. - Ability to communicate effectively with families, Early
Head Start staff, community resource agencies, consultants and volunteers to support families in locating and accessing appropriate community services as needed. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; including Excel. Must
be able to type at least 30 words per minute. - Communicate effectively with staff and develop positive
work relationships. Works collaboratively as a team player with her/his staff, clients (children and parents) and other professionals in the program/agency. - Ability to conduct onsite staff and/ or parent training
when needed. - Ability to provide education, training opportunities, and
promote positive relationship building for all enrolled pregnant women, families and their infants and toddlers. - Fluency and proficiency in English, Excellent written and
oral communication skills, detail oriented. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred - Sound organizational and time management skills to manage
high and varied activity levels. Ability to organize and prioritize
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry children, up to 40 pounds, during each
workday when necessary. - Ability to engage in frequent bending, reaching, twisting
and engage in moderate to frequent kneeling, crawling, and stooping while observing, or performing classroom activities. - Ability to engage in frequent writing, typing on keyboards,
and handling small objects (e.g. arts and crafts for children). - Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time that
may exceed an hour at a time. This includes sitting on the floor for extended periods (e.g. while engaging in child development activities during home visits, classroom, and socialization sessions).
Preferred:
- Master's degree in child development or related area
- Child Development Permit / Certification
- Knowledge of the following Professional Development
