This position is ineligible for employment Visa sponsorship. Overall Purpose This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating product, customer, and data-related risks. This role operates within the Three Lines of Defense framework and partners closely with Product, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Data Governance to ensure risks are proactively identified and reduced prior to production launch and throughout the product lifecycle.This role focuses on product risk assessments, customer impact analysis, data risk oversight, and incident management, ensuring strong data integrity, privacy, and control effectiveness while enabling business innovation.
Essential Functions - Data, Product, and Model First Line Risk
Support product risk assessments to identify, assess, and reduce risks prior to production launch, during material product changes, and throughout the product lifecycle. Embed risk management practices into product development and change management processes to identify risks early and mitigate them appropriately. Conduct pre-mortems, customer impact assessments, and cross-functional process reviews to identify potential risks related to product delivery, customer outcomes, data integrity, privacy, regulatory compliance, or operational resilience. Support product, data, and customer-related incident management, including root cause analysis, impact assessment, issue documentation, and sustainable mitigation plans. Identify and monitor risks related to data usage, data quality, data lineage, metadata, classification, storage, access, retention, privacy, and protection. Partner with Data Governance, Technology, Security, Privacy, Product, Legal, Compliance, and second-line risk teams to align data risk practices with enterprise standards, policies, and regulatory expectations. Support information classification, data governance, artificial intelligence governance, and related risk management programs. Track regulatory developments and emerging expectations related to data governance, information classification, artificial intelligence, privacy, and model risk, as applicable. Provide risk oversight for data owners, data custodians, data stewards, product owners, and other accountable stakeholders. Support model risk management activities for analytical models, decisioning logic, automated systems, artificial intelligence-enabled capabilities, and customer-impacting tools. Participate in model risk assessments across the model lifecycle, including design, implementation, validation, monitoring, performance management, change management, and issue remediation. Maintain asset inventories, process documentation, control inventories, KRIs, KPIs, and governance reporting related to product, data, model, and AI risk. Facilitate or participate in governance forums, working groups, or committees related to data governance, information classification, artificial intelligence, product risk, or customer-impacting risk decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Technology, Security, Data Management, Risk Management, or another related field of specialty. Typically 12 or more years of progressive experience in risk management, operational risk, compliance, audit, data management, product risk, technology risk, financial services, payments, or a related field. Demonstrated success leading risk, regulatory, audit, control, data, product, or governance functions in a Three Lines of Defense environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, highly regulated environment. Strong understanding of risk management practices, internal controls, control testing, issue management, governance, and remediation. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to assigned business lines, products, services, technology, data, or risk domains. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and change management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence, advise, and build trust with business partners, risk partners, senior leaders, and internal or external stakeholders. Effective influence management and stakeholder management skills. Experience developing or maintaining policies, procedures, standards, frameworks, risk reporting, process maps, or control documentation. Background and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of (Data Management Association) DAMA Principals and ability to customize for the environment. Records Management (ARMA) and Privacy experience a plus. DAMA - Certification in Data Management or Certified Data Partitioner. Experience in Data Risk Management (highly preferred). Expertise in documenting end-to-end Process Map, Risk, and Controls. Ability to engage with various cross functional teams in bringing together holistic perspective (upstream/downstream). PMP certifications or lean six sigma certifications are beneficial.
Physical Requirements Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers. The base pay scale for this position in: New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $186,000 - $232,000. Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
