Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live and Work in Michigan

Purpose: This position functions as a professional staff assistant to the Division Director for the Office of the Advocate for Children, Youth, and Families (OACYF) with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Bureau of Coordinated Children's Health Policy and Supports. This position is responsible for supporting the Division Director across a range of activities, including researching various issues/challenges within the division; representing the division across the bureau and department in meetings and workgroups; serving as a liaison to external entities and contractors; collaborating on cross-department policies, and other items; managing strategic priorities; analyzing data; and extensive writing of a range of documents. The position will also create presentations, write talking points, clinical summaries, and briefings, conduct special projects, and coordinate various assignments within the division and across the bureau. The position will also assist in scheduling, planning, organizing, and analyzing overall administrative operations of the bureau.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as staff assistant to the OACYF Director.



  • Represent the division director in meetings and on workgroups as requested.
  • Ensure coordination and alignment of division work with other bureau and department goals.
  • Support the division in execution of assigned projects.
  • Research information for presentations and assignments.
  • Prepare PowerPoints and talking points.
  • Make public presentations on behalf of the division.
  • Respond to requests for information from internal and external partners.
  • Compile information for timely completion of necessary reports, including clinical summaries.
  • Assist other division staff with identified projects.
  • Make informed recommendations regarding systemic changes based on work conducted by the division.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed.



Develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to inform division work.



  • Develop relationships with entities including but not limited to: Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHPs); Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSPs); public and private child welfare partners, Community Mental Health Association (CMHA), Association for Children's Mental Health (ACMH), and other identified stakeholders.
  • Work with identified stakeholders to execute division goals.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external partners to meet the goals of the clinical division.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: A minimum of a master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.



Experience: A minimum of three years of professional experience working with child-serving systems, and experience with provision of clinical services for children, youth, and families.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. Standard office environment. May require valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position.
