TAPS is dedicated to being innovative, sustainable, and customer-focused providers of access to UC Santa Cruz.: taps.ucsc.edu More information can be found at: taps.ucsc.edu JOB SUMMARY Under direction of the TAPS Sales Manager, incumbent analyzes, plans, coordinates and provides administrative and staffing support for the TAPS Event Parking Services, Construction Parking, and the Sales Office. Major duties include responding to requests for services, analysis of both special events or construction projects, providing event parking services on-site, and developing plans to accommodate those events with a broad spectrum of services (e.g., parking, permits, traffic direction, wayfinding assistance, etc.). Also develops mitigation measures for event-related traffic impacts on the campus community and back-up support for other Sales Office services. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary: $30.02 - $31.40/hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. - Respond to event-related inquiries by reviewing a variety of data points including nature, profile and size of event; date and time of event; attendance demographic, anticipated transit routes; types and percentages of vehicles expected; pedestrian routes and wayfinding concerns; and construction impacts.
- Based on review, draft event logistics: includes parking, visitor convenience, staffing, safety measures, visitor entry and exit routes, transit services, Parking Enforcement and/or Police support, parking/assistance for mobility impaired guests, services and/or provisions for affected campus units or inter-departmental operations, signage and wayfinding, traffic direction and/or attendant permit sales, and communications and outreach.
- Process requests, allocate resources, determine optimal space, perform site visits, provide cost estimates, track space/lot usage and communicate impacts for contractor and construction-related parking.
- Coordinate parking lot usage and other logistical considerations for special projects (e.g., road closures, construction, vendor deliveries, etc.).
- Investigate unlisted events, and contact those event sponsors to determine their parking needs.
- Consult with the Event Field Operations Coordinator and/or the Event Field Operations Lead to refine event logistics.
25% - Specialty Parking Planning and Development
- Recommend improvements for the TAPS Event Parking Program to the Assistant Director.
- Participate in the development of operational plans for large-scale campus events that mitigate traffic, provide adequate parking, and safely move visitors while minimizing the impact on the campus community.
- Develop proposed work flows to improve TAPS Event and Construction Parking communications and operations.
- Develop/update campus event planning operational procedures for review and approval.
- Perform site visits on a regular basis to ensure that VIP Reservations, Construction Staging, and Event Parking does not impede ADA access, Reserved parking, fire/emergency pathways, or pedestrian walkways.
- Correspond with the University Police and the University Fire Marshal for any potential egress issues, road closures, or safety issues.
10% - Campus Wide Event Coordination
- Attend event and construction coordination meetings.
- Identify parking, permit, safety, and signage needs for large-scale events through site visits.
- Develop maps, permits, signage and communication for campus wide events for review and approval.
- Advise and inform committees regarding changes, conflicts, pedestrian needs and shuttle requirements.
10% - Business and Fiscal Responsibilities
- Prepare invoices and departmental recharges.
- Communicate billing changes and updates to clients, departments and vendors.
- Initiate fiscal data collection, audit reports and analyses.
- Track and supplement fiscal data to assist the Business Office with annual fiscal close.
10% - Communication Outreach
- Provide information and recommendations to the campus community on event programming and construction options.
- Communicate with clients to clarify needs, recommend or determine services, suggest options, identify safety concerns and provide cost estimates.
- Disseminate information to affiliate units as well as outside agencies and serve as liaison between contractors and event planners.
- Obtain billing information and payment from Event Parking clients.
- Solicit client feedback and respond to complaints; based on trends, recommend customer service or efficiency improvements to the Sales Manager.
- Communicate event logistical changes to Assistant Director, the Field Parking Operations Manager, and/or the Events Field Operations Coordinator and operations staff.
- Provide Assistant Director and Marketing Manager with recommendations for web content updates and improvements.
5% - Sales Office Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of permit eligibility and pricing.
- Process requests for Event and construction permits.
- Log, track, and issue permits through the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Review Events cash, check, and credit cards.
- Assist in the audit of monthly, quarterly and annual reports regarding Event billing.
- Work with the Assistant Director to recommend and implement procedures in the following areas: parking citation complaints, requests for special parking consideration, parking violation document processing and the collection of fines as it pertains to Events.
5% - Event Implementation
- Maintain Event Parking database information.
- Develop signage, maps, specialized parking passes and media.
- Program variable electronic message traffic signs as needed.
- Draft lot, variable electronic message, and auxiliary signage messaging for review and approval.
- Provide backup operational support (e.g., reserve parking lots and/or spaces, sell or issue permits)
- Collect field data (e.g., ridership surveys, multimodal transportation surveys, as needed.)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize a changing workload and complete a number of competing assignments under the pressure of multiple deadlines with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to anticipate outcomes in an environment of multiple and changing influences.
- Effectual decision-making, problem-solving, generating and exchanging ideas, resolving disputes, and negotiating solutions.
- Experience in cash handling and record keeping skills and the ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy, in compliance with all campus policies and procedures.
- Experience with cash handling to review permit sales cash and credit card sales discrepancies and resolve other problems.
- Ability to present a positive service- oriented image while demonstrating diplomacy and tact.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and interact in a professional, friendly, courteous manner with the campus community, other department staff, members of the public, and persons of various backgrounds and personalities.
- Excellent written and graphic design communication skills necessary to produce professional correspondence, wayfinding materials, data reports and to communicate with persons of various backgrounds, personalities, and affiliations.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
- Selected candidate must pass the employment misconduct disclosure process.
- Selected candidate will be required to complete PCI training within one month of hire.
- Selected candidate will be required to read and understand Business and Finance Bulletin BUS-49, Cashiering Responsibilities and Guidelines and pass the Basic Cash Handling Training Quiz.

- The selected candidate will be required to work a hybrid work schedule and must be able to work successfully from a home/remote office and fulfill the requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
