Job Summary
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for union and non-union employees in a high-volume, multi-state environment. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll execution, supports compliance with federal and state regulations, and plays a key role in system-related initiatives, including ERP migration and testing. The position requires strong attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting. This is a fully onsite, hands-on role with significant ownership of payroll operations. Job Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for union and non-union employees from start to finish
- Perform payroll balancing, reconciliation, reporting, and bank file processing
- Audit payroll and HR data to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state tax requirements
- Manage payroll-related activities such as garnishments and employee inquiries
- Support ERP system transition activities, including testing, data validation, and execution of test scripts
- Generate and analyze reports using Excel to support payroll accuracy and decision-making
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to resolve payroll issues and improve processes
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in compliance with SOX and internal controls
- Support audits and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements
- Manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of payroll experience in a large, complex organization
- Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing
- Experience with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) or similar HCM system preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas (required)
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax regulations
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work onsite full-time and manage deadlines effectively
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
Work Experience
- 3+ years of payroll experience required
- Experience with union payroll and multi-frequency payroll processing preferred
- Experience supporting system implementations or upgrades preferred
