Job Summary

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for union and non-union employees in a high-volume, multi-state environment. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll execution, supports compliance with federal and state regulations, and plays a key role in system-related initiatives, including ERP migration and testing. The position requires strong attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting. This is a fully onsite, hands-on role with significant ownership of payroll operations.

Job Responsibilities



  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for union and non-union employees from start to finish
  • Perform payroll balancing, reconciliation, reporting, and bank file processing
  • Audit payroll and HR data to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state tax requirements
  • Manage payroll-related activities such as garnishments and employee inquiries
  • Support ERP system transition activities, including testing, data validation, and execution of test scripts
  • Generate and analyze reports using Excel to support payroll accuracy and decision-making
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to resolve payroll issues and improve processes
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in compliance with SOX and internal controls
  • Support audits and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 3+ years of payroll experience in a large, complex organization
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing
  • Experience with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) or similar HCM system preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas (required)
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work onsite full-time and manage deadlines effectively


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred


Work Experience



  • 3+ years of payroll experience required
  • Experience with union payroll and multi-frequency payroll processing preferred
  • Experience supporting system implementations or upgrades preferred
