POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the Enrollment Management Division, the assistant director of financial planning coordinates financial aid information and processing. The assistant director is knowledgeable and current in their understanding of federal, state and institutional aid. The assistant director administers various forms of student financial aid, assists with award processing, disbursement, compliance monitoring and reporting. The assistant director works directly with students and families to understand and support their unique financial circumstances.

Essential Functions Statement(s)



  • Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings.


  • Continually develops knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Assist students and parents with completing financial aid applications.
  • Packages incoming and returning student awards.
  • Monitors returning students for satisfactory academic progress
  • Communicates complex information effectively - to groups and one on one.
  • Manages annual review of Loras College Financial Aid website and net price calculator.
  • Participate in and present at student orientation sessions, admission visit days, and community workshops.
  • Assists in implementing financial aid self-service module.
  • Assists with annual audit preparations.
  • Handles confidential work with tact and discretion.
  • Attends state and federal meetings and workshops as necessary for professional development.
  • Works effectively with multiple campus offices to serve students, including admission, advancement, business office, registrar and academic affairs.
  • Supports the mission and vison of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition,
  • Performs related duties as assigned.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)



  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 2+ years working in student financial services or a related field, job title and compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Previous experience working in an office setting, with a preference in financial, business, and higher education settings
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
  • Computer Skills: Competent in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of databases and web-based tools including student information systems (SIS) and customer relationship management (CRM)
