Summary:

This position is responsible for preparing a wide variety of food, from salads through main courses and desserts, that are attractive, appealing, and flavorful according to applicable federal, state, and Community standards.

Detailed responsibilities:
* Cook 1 Line

  • Responsible for keeping the station(s) fully stocked at mealtimes.
  • Plans and initiates a cooking schedule for food preparation to meet the meal schedule.
  • Prepares, seasons, cooks, and serves food for assigned meals; ensures appropriate portioned servings and quality
  • Prepares nutritional snacks for residents as assigned.
  • Tastes and smells prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
  • Monitors the temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met before steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service.
  • Store leftovers properly and plan to use leftover foods according to state and federal sanitation regulations.
  • Assists with the department inventory program.
  • Cleans equipment and work area(s).
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Credentials:
Essential:
* Food Handlers' certification from local health department

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* High School diploma or GED

Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:

* 6 Months kitchen work as a cook's assistant

NonEssential:

* 6 Months kitchen work as a cook or work as a prep cook
