Who We Are...

McWane Inc. has a newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI). This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is "easiest to do business with". We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants. We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.

PositionSummary

ThePayroll Manageris a fast-paced, high-impact position that playsan important rolein executingpayroll/accounting initiativesthroughouttheMPIdivision.The role will oversee the supervision of multi-site payroll and payroll functions, ensuring pay isprocessaccurately,timelyand in compliance with company and government regulations and related account reconciliations and internal financial reporting.Manage and ensure theaccurateand efficient operation of the payroll function and department, including the generation, distribution, and reporting of the biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, weekly, and special incentive payrolls.

Essential Functions

  • Implements,maintains, andreviewspayroll processing systems to ensuretimelyandaccurateprocessing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

  • Ensuresaccurateandtimelyprocessing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

  • Prepares andmaintainsaccuraterecords and reports of payroll transactions.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll,wage, andhour laws and best practices.

  • Prepare and input payroll related manual journal entries including the monthly intercompany entries for 401(k) & payroll chargebacks.

  • Assistcontrollers with reconciliation of the payroll bank account and various payroll related GL accounts,identifyand research variances and supply backup for all account balances.

  • Resolve employee concernsregardingwage payments, taxation,deductionsand unique requests & counsel andadviseHR and Payroll staff, employees and managers of transactional processing involved with payroll.

  • Maintain employee payroll records and information to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and to provide beneficial andtimelymanagement reporting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • MinimumBachelor's degree inAccounting, Business Administration or relatedor related field from accredited college or university.

  • Minimumfive (5)yearsof payroll experience specifically related to multiple sites/states and multiplepayrollruns.

  • Minimum three (3) years of leading a payroll team.

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of payroll software experience (ex. UltiPro, Kronos, ADP, Paycor, and/or Workday).

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational, project managementskills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or relatedsoftware, (advanced knowledge of Excel).

Position Requirements

  • Sitting forlong periodsof time.

  • Minimum of 10% (air/car) travel based on business needs.
