CARFAIR - MANUFACTURING MANAGER (GILLETT) The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for planning production schedules and overseeing manufacturing activities in pursuance of business goals. Includes development of policies and procedures designed to increase productivity, assure quality, and mitigate production problems. To this end, the Manufacturing Manager will improve throughput and other in-house processes with the objective of reducing overall costs and enhancing customer satisfaction. WHAT YOU WILL DO: 1. Provide leadership for developing and directing manufacturing and plant initiatives for all company products. 2. Manage long-term strategic plans and tactical implementation of production systems across the enterprise. 3. Develop systems to evaluate, score, and implement manufacturing business system process improvements. 4. Create and implement repeatable scoring metrics for all manufacturing and production operations. 5. Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) into processes. 6. Assist in training line workers in problem-solving techniques and on-the-spot production troubleshooting. 7. Determine optimum manufacturing processes and raw material usage. 8. Consult with Quality Assurance staff and engineers on quality issues; evaluate the overall QA performance of the manufacturing unit. 9. Manage manufacturing employees, line workers, and other staff; recommend optimal staffing levels and schedules. 10. In partnership, select the appropriate capital equipment as needed, create business case, and then oversee purchase, installation, and start-up. 11. Improve production standards through time studies and other standard data development methods. 12. Identify areas for waste reduction. 13. Develop plant or process flow layouts to improve productivity. 14. Provide cost analysis as required by senior plant management. 15. Create and maintain production and manufacturing documentation. 16. Persuade staff to adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work. 17. Identify relevant training needs and opportunities. 18. Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for ensuring all controls (ICFR Internal Controls) identified under their area of responsibility are designed and operating as outlined in the internal controls over financial reporting. 2. Ensure policies and processes are established and adhered to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including organizational quality, environmental, health & safety programs. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: * Post Secondary education or a combination of related experience.
* Experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans * Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing are desirable. * Should have a good working knowledge of QS-9000 and ISO 9000 systems. SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS: * Strong inventory and production management skills, must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments, * Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision. * Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker. * Able to interface directly with cross functional teams. * Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents. * Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and audits. * Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills. * High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite. * A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. * Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. * Proficient using computer, mobile phone and other equipment related to essential functions.
