Project Engineer

PPG is currently hiring for a proven leader to join our Automotive OEM coatings team as a Facility Project Engineer at the Cleveland, OH manufacturing Plant. This position will report to the site Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing project engineering services to ensure the safe and efficient operation of facility systems. The position requires interaction with plant personnel to help define, initiate, and implement projects that improve the overall process/infrastructure from a safety, ergonomic, quality, reliability, and/or productivity standpoint.

  • Support facility EHS initiatives (GS2, PSM, Audits, etc.)
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all newly installed systems on site including those associated with hazardous area electrical classifications.
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining standards and procedures for the installation and maintenance of facility equipment.
  • Work with site personnel to develop cost estimates, justifications, timelines, and implementation plans for capital projects.
  • Develop and provide project management support for plant improvement and infrastructure projects including monthly report outs.
  • Provide construction management support for approved capital projects.
  • Introduce new technologies or processes into the facility
  • Implement operator/supervisor suggestions

Education & Experience Necessary

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years project management, maintenance, or manufacturing experience in an industrial environment, batch paint processing experience a plus.

Functional/Technical Expertise Necessary

  • Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and managing complexity.
  • Working knowledge of P&ID's, electrical/mechanical red lines, structural and single line drawings.
  • Working knowledge of pumps, mills, rotational equipment, as well as material movement desired.
  • Ability to direct maintenance and contract employees.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong customer focus/orientation, decision making, and communication with internal PPG team members as well as Contractors.
  • Ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization from shop floor to upper management.
  • Manage Cap Ex Projects, including financials.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong personal computer skill level with Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with ACAD a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry construction standards a plus
  • Knowledge of explosion proof and intrinsically safe electrical installations a plus
