Description
This role provides enterprise level analytical and consultative support for Atlantic Union's compensation programs and policies, including annual merit and incentive pay programs, recognition programs, benchmarking surveys and database management, job evaluations, job architecture framework, equity programs, analytics and other compensation related projects. Position Accountabilities
- Acts as trusted advisor to HR and business groups, providing recommendations on compensation matters that support business goals, and ensures market competitiveness regarding application of compensation policies, practices, and guidelines
- Leads ongoing reviews of job evaluations to ensure alignment with AUB's job architecture, and leveling standards, partnering with Recruiting and HR Business Partners to maintain consistency, clarity, and scalability across the organization.
- Partner with compensation team members in annual participation of compensation surveys or special compensation studies, analyzes results to identify market trends
- Partner with compensation team on administration of MarketPay benchmarking database, monitors trends and makes recommendations for grade changes based on findings
- Assists in the development, administration and analysis of rewards and recognition programs
- Provides on-going analysis (compa-ratio, compression, year-to-date program costs, etc.) to determine effectiveness of compensation strategies
- Acts as technical expert/consultant to management regarding hiring/promotional rates, special adjustments, bonuses, and all other compensation related issues
- Leads corporate-wide annual merit process
- Performs audits to ensure positions are classified appropriately per FLSA guidelines and other federal and state legislation
- Owns governance of HR job descriptions aligned to AUB's job architecture.
- Develops and maintains compensation program metrics and dashboards to determine trends and anomalies and to bring attention to program successes and opportunities for improvement
- Analyzes best practice tactics and organization trends to identify opportunities for program improvement
- Keeps abreast of trends within the market regarding compensation issues and legislative or regulatory trends
- Ensures compliance with applicable labor laws, accounting rules and governance regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, Wage & Hour Laws and Internal Revenue Code and coordinate their integration into compensation programs and with Payroll
- Identifies opportunities to streamline or automate processes using technology to ensure continuous improvements in program administration
- Participates in special projects that may include performing analyses of competitive pay practices, economic trends, current market position, and cost impact, system enhancements, and improving analytics
- Provides support in the development of Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors meeting materials.
- Assists in the administration and reporting for equity-based compensation programs
- Provides support for M&A related activity
Organizational Relationship This position reports to the Manager - Compensation Position Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Human Resources or Business field of study preferred) or equivalent combination of education and relevant compensation experience.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in compensation roles, showing progressively more responsibility and experience in areas including compensation market data benchmarking, market data management, merit program administration, incentive plan administration, and job architecture
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional of Human Resources preferred
- Experience in working with Human Resource information systems required.
- UKG HRIS or similar system experience preferred.
- MarketPay or similar survey management tool experience required
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced computer skills including: Excel modeling, PowerPoint presentation development, understanding of HRIS systems and database applications
- Strong research and data analytical skills as demonstrated through previous experience in corporate compensation, finance, accounting or other analytical role.
- Maintains current knowledge of compensation trends and regulatory requirements
- Understanding of incentive plan design and analysis
- Detail oriented while maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication and ability to make a presentation with poise and control
- Ability to adapt to changes, multitask, prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
