WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING

At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences-from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you'll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges-striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career.

THE ROLE:
AMD is seeking an influential engineer to optimize AI workloads running on AMD GPUs. This is a unique opportunity to join as a founding member of a highly skilled team, shaping the future of AI computing solutions and driving performance at scale.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate brings a strong "bias for action" mindset and thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment. You are naturally curious, challenge the status quo, and apply first-principles thinking to solve complex problems. Experience with state-of-the-art LLM inference and training-across both framework and kernel layers-is highly desirable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Optimize AMD GPU performance for open-source LLM frameworks such as vLLM and SGLang.
  • Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks in AI workloads at the kernel level.
  • Integrate AMD software stacks (ROCm, ATen) into open-source frameworks including PyTorch, JAX, and Triton.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software and hardware engineering teams to identify gaps and deliver performance improvements.
  • Build strong technical relationships with internal teams and external partners.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep experience in AI infrastructure and open-source ecosystems (e.g., vLLM, SGLang, JAX, XLA, PyTorch, Triton).
  • Strong kernel optimization expertise using DSLs and HIP (or CUDA), including familiarity with PTX/SASS or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of modern GPU architectures.
  • Proven track record of open-source contributions (e.g., GitHub).
  • Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
