Job Description:

Microchip System Operations support HRR-Relay is considering a candidate for Engineer II-Manufacturing to work for Relay products based in Garden Grove, CA. This position supports NPI projects and day-to-day manufacturing activities. Work with key stakeholders throughout the organization, bringing new products efficiently and reliability to production. This position will be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing operations processes are carried out efficiently, accurately, and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that manufacturing operations are carried out efficiently, accurately, and safely.
  • Drive continuous improvement practices
  • Drive manufacturing costs and optimize quality and efficiency in production operations
  • Support focus factory key performance indicators
  • Provide job training and support to assembly operations as needed.
  • Creates and/or revises work specifications and Standard Operating Procedure's as needed.
  • Provide Design Engineering interface to ensure manufacturability and repeatability
  • Work with production personnel on all improvement suggestions to reduce cycle time, lower costs and improve quality
  • Participate with New Product Introduction:
  • Manufacturing plan creation and execution
  • BOM (Bills of Materials) reviews
  • FMEA and DFX reviews and feedback
  • All new product assembly document

Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or ElectroMechanical preferred) with relevant engineering experience, orAssociate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or ElectroMechanical preferred) with equivalent work experience in an engineering capacity.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/process engineering role.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Application Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Flexible and willing to take on varied tasks and assignments.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, CAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar design tools.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software, or hardware controlled by U.S. export laws. Candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, Permanent U.S. residency, or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with AX (Dynamics AX / ERP systems).
  • Understanding and experience with mechanical parts and assemblies, including machined, stamped, welded, and formed components.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly processes and the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics, review design documentation, and support product quality management.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), process routings, and related engineering documentation.
  • Understanding of FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and risk management practices.
  • Strong awareness of defect recognition, defect prevention, and process control methods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools, including SPC, GR&R, and correlation analysis.
  • Demonstrated strong problemsolving skills using structured, datadriven approaches.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, including 6S and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Ability to create complex manufacturing workflows and develop clear, detailed work instructions down to the operator level.
  • Understanding and practical application of lean manufacturing principles to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304-$143,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
