Your expertise will directly influence product readiness and user satisfaction by meticulously testing and validating complex systems. This role offers the chance to mentor junior team members, shape testing methodologies, and contribute to continuous improvement, making a tangible difference in the quality of technology solutions delivered to users. **What You'll Do** * Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test specifications, test cases, test scripts, and test data to ensure robust application quality.
* Execute manual test cases, meticulously track defects, and actively participate in the entire defect resolution lifecycle.
* Lead the creation of use cases and contribute to test plan development, participating in peer reviews and incorporating feedback.
* Troubleshoot complex test issues, perform root cause analysis, and record detailed test results to inform product improvements.
* Contribute to product readiness and release decisions, ensuring applications meet stringent quality standards.
* Collaborate with business analysts to ensure business requirements are thoroughly understood and testable, highlighting any gaps early in the development lifecycle.
* Provide valuable input on project risks and assist in determining appropriate test environments.
* Actively participate in the development of test data strategies and flag test cases suitable for regression libraries.
* Mentor junior QA engineers, providing guidance on testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
* Support and provide constructive feedback on existing QA processes and standards, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
* Become proficient in the technologies utilized by application development teams, fostering strong collaboration. **What You'll Bring** * A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical work experience.
* 3-5 years of dedicated software testing experience in a comparable position.
* Demonstrated expertise in testing desktop installer applications and user interfaces.
* Proven experience in testing server-side components.
* Proficiency in manual testing of user-facing components.
* Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.
* Experience with various operating systems including Windows, LINUX, and UNIX.
* Strong technical skills that may include JAVA, C++, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, HTML, XML, and Web Services.
* Knowledge and experience with relational database technologies, including SQL and schema design.
* Experience with defect tracking systems and test repository management.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative team-player mindset.
* Strong troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to prioritize workload efficiently. **Bonus Points** * Experience with automation testing frameworks and tools.
* Prior software development experience, particularly with Client/Server or Web (J2EE) applications.
* Familiarity with mainframe development environments, including JCL and TSO for processing batch jobs.
* Knowledge of financial markets or brokerage operations.
* Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) tools like TeamCity or Jenkins.
* Exposure to mobile operating systems (iOS and Android) and native application testing (installation, operation, configuration).
* Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
