OVERVIEW: The Aerial Mapping Production Manager supervises and coordinates activities and personnel of the Aerial Mapping Department, producing lidar and imagery data products. The position is responsible for the planning and execution of data production for multiple projects. This includes managing all staff and resources while maintaining procedures and workflows to meet and/or exceed company-wide standards for quality control and production timelines. The position is also responsible for troubleshooting data and workflow problems, while also contributing to new developments in workflows, software, manuals, and training. DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:
- Prepare, manage, and update project schedule and activity tracking including project timeline estimation and task assignments.
- Oversee QA/QC of project deliverables.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with datasets and workflows.
- Support field operations to assess or diagnose potential quality concerns.
- Review and revise quality control processes to meet customer expectations.
- Develop standard processes and documentation required for project executions.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of project tasks, progress, scope changes and communication internally and externally.
- Support and track change management activities in project scope.
- Coordinate with business units to support key company objectives.
- Optimize and prioritize resources to exceed key KPI's for project success.
- Analyze production costs, develop cost containment methods, monitor efficiency, and oversee the departmental budget.
- Educate and supervise staff in the lidar production processes using company resources within the framework of established company policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper usage with staff and overall administration of lidar production systems, software systems, equipment; identify enhancement opportunities.
- Manage the aerial department staff including recruiting, discipline, mentoring, training efforts and assisting with the performance and talent management process.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices, and ensure department staff adhere to internal and external compliance and quality standards.
- Analyze and identify new technology to enhance production processes, lower costs, improve efficiency, and improve product delivery.
- Provide information, report, and recommend actions to management in resolving issues, identifying enhancement opportunities, cost control, recordkeeping, and staff performance needs.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and professional affiliations.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Applied Geography, GIS, or equivalent is required.
- ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist (required)
- 10 years' experience in lidar production and photogrammetry with product generation consistent with Geospatial industry or related required.
- Must have the ability to supervise a group of technical non-exempt and exempt employees, maintaining a high degree of motivation and focus on department goals.
- Requires excellent people skills and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Requires a good business sense and high levels of persuasiveness and social skills when dealing with clients.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
- The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects at the same time is required.
- The ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team is required.
- Requires strong organizational and technical skills.
- The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands is required.
- Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed.
- Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
