Position: MICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Day & Night shifts available
Location: New Haven, CT
Schedule: 9 shifts every 3 weeks (12-13 hours), rotating weekends and holidays/no call
Setting: Inpatient Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
EMR: EPIC

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Yale New Haven Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, collaborative environment within a leading health system.

Role & Responsibilities: Critical Care & Clinical Management

As a valued member of the care team, you will:

  • Manage complex, high-acuity patients including those requiring mechanical ventilation, vasopressor support, and multi-organ failure management
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds, contributing to critical decision-making and care planning
  • Perform ongoing evaluation and adjustment of ventilator settings in collaboration with respiratory therapy
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, triage, and management of critically ill patients throughout the care continuum
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team in accordance with state regulations, hospital policies, protocols, and clinical pathways
  • Deliver compassionate psychosocial support to patients and their families in a professional and ethical manner
  • Contribute to a team-based care model with opportunities for autonomous clinical decision-making

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program

Experience

  • Open to new graduates - 6-month orientation provided
  • ICU experience preferred

Licensure & Certification

  • Active, unrestricted Connecticut license (or eligibility)
  • ACLS/BLS certification (as required)
  • DEA registration (or eligibility)
