Summary:The Pharmacy Coordinator is a member of the Rex pharmacy leadership team and is responsible for supervising the activities of the pharmacists at UNC Health Rex (60% administrative/40% staffing).Hiring Manager: Ahmed A Shible, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, DPLA - Clinical Pharmacy Manager (ahmed.shible@unchealth.unc.edu)

Responsibilities are varied and include the following:

  • Provides clinical leadership and supervision for critical care and infectious disease service lines including monitoring staffing needs and assuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained
  • Provides leadership for appropriate medication use for area(s) of responsibility
  • Lead or support serviceline initiatives and projects
  • Identifies and implements clinical pathways and/or operational process improvement initiatives to provide optimal care while minimizing cost
  • Creates and/or maintains pathways, policies and procedures specific to the practice area
  • Collaborates with other members of the leadership team to achieve departmental as well as health-system goals
  • Manage SAFE Reports and followup.
  • This role will have direct reports and Maintain responsibility of performance evaluations and facilitation of corrective action
  • Provide regular 1:1s, checkins, and opendoor support for pharmacists and learners
  • Support leadership development among frontline staff
  • Oversee onboarding, hiring, and recruitment of new employees for the clinical pharmacy team and department
  • Oversee payroll, timesheets, and scheduling for pharmacists and residents
  • Provides on-call leadership support for the clinical team and staffs every 12th weekend and occasional holidays
  • Participates in experiential student and resident education
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, local and institutional policies, procedures, standards and regulations
  • Participate in Rex and systemlevel committees
  • Collaborate with RHSH and Rex Operations, including standing meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

    Education Requirements:
    * PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree.
    Licensure/Certification Requirements:
    * Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment.
    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • Two years of prior pharmacist experience or equivalent required.
    • board certification in critical care or infectious disease preferred
