Job Description

This position provides leadership and operational oversight for curricular functions across the pre-clerkship and clinical phases of the medical student curriculum. Based in Columbia, MO, the Manager supervises the staff who are responsible for coordinating all curricular activities for medical students, including clerkship and elective administration, and visiting student operations across both the Columbia and Springfield campuses. The role ensures consistent processes, compliance with accreditation standards, and alignment of curricular coordination across all phases. This position collaborates closely with curriculum directors, student affairs, assessment, and affiliate hospital partners to ensure a seamless student experience and efficient curricular delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervision and Team Leadership

* Provides direct supervision to clinical and pre-clinical coordinators, including hiring, training, goal setting, and performance evaluation.
* Ensures consistent application of policies, equitable workload distribution, and high-quality service delivery across both phases of the curriculum.

2. Operational Oversight of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Curricular Functions

* Oversees administrative processes for all blocks, clerkships, electives, and selectives Director I Student Support Services Director I Student Support Services. Ensures scheduling accuracy, grading compliance, and communication alignment between departments, faculty, and students.

3. Liaison and Communication with Faculty, Hospitals, and Partner Sites

* Serves as the primary liaison between the Office of Medical Education and affiliate hospitals, course directors, and academic units.
* Maintains partnerships to support student placements, onboarding, and evaluation.

4. Process Improvement and Data Management

* Leads the development of standardized procedures, documentation, and digital workflows (e.g., MyZou, Canvas, New Innovations, Clinician Nexus, VSLO).
* Identifies opportunities to streamline systems supporting scheduling, evaluation, and compliance.

5. Accreditation and Compliance Coordination

* Ensures operational adherence to LCME and institutional accreditation standards. Oversees maintenance of key records, policies, and audit documentation related to curriculum delivery, student evaluations, and site agreements.

6. Collaboration with Assessment and Student Affairs

* Coordinates with the assessment and student affairs teams to ensure timely reporting of grades, exam administration, and tracking of student progression, leaves, and graduation eligibility.
* Special Projects and Committee Participation.
o Represents student services on curriculum and operational committees.
o Leads or contributes to projects such as curricular transitions, onboarding process improvements, and regional expansion planning.

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually
