What you will be doing:

This role is an integral part of the Revenue Team in terms of ensuring proper revenue recognition. The Revenue Accountant analyzes customer contracts to determine proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606. The Revenue Accountant creates revenue schedules which lead to revenue recognition in the ledger. Furthermore, the Revenue Accountant processes monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue journal entries, prepares account reconciliations, and prepares contract costs workbooks. Finally, this role works with various other groups within Finance such as Billing to maintain adherence to accounting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1- Review/process customer contracts for ASC 606 revenue implications -- 70%

  • Answer checklist questions, based on signed contracts, which drive revenue recognition

  • Perform Revenue Recognition Analyses, as applicable, leading to multi-element revenue allocations

  • Create revenue schedules to post revenue to the ledger

  • Process amendments and contract updates in Workday as applicable

Responsibility #2 - Period-end Close responsibilities -- 15%

  • Prepare supporting workbooks that lead to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries

  • Perform account reconciliations and other recurring analyses

  • Streamline these processes when possible

Responsibility #3 - Maintain contract cost process and workflow -- 10%

  • Assist in determining appropriate application of contract costs guidance as well as preparing journal entries, analytics, and reconciliations for contract costs

  • Maintain process workflow in both SQL tables and Excel workbooks

Responsibility #4 -Other ad-hoc analyses and tasks -- 5%

  • Perform ad hoc analyses and research as appropriate

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 2 or more years

Education:

Bachelors (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Excel proficiency

  • Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral)

  • Ability to collaborate within a team dynamic, sharing responsibilities to accomplish a team goal

  • Ability to improve or streamline processes

Experience:

  • 2 years' applicable experience, ideally in the following areas:

    • Revenue recognition experience (particularly related to SaaS)

    • Working knowledge of ASC 606

    • Reviewing customer contracts

    • Familiarity with Workday

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • CPA or Master's degree

Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $62,000 - $93,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
